If the gun shoots and sounds the same I wouldn't worry about it. No sense worrying until it something goes wrong heh.

You could make a simple discharger from a connector, some wires and an incandescent bulb. Best thing about this setup is that you can see how far along you are too.

Why do you want to discharge your battery, anyhow? NiMh cells really don't need to be, and it can actually be bad to do so often.
