KJW 1911A1 Compatibility with a TM 1911A1
 

Hi

Can anyone confirm that a KJ Works (i guess that's KJW) 1911A1 are 100% compatible with TM 1911A1 ?

I want to replace the outer barrel of the KJW 1911A1 with a TM 1911A1.

I am looking for this.

12 hours later and no reply... sorry, I don't know - yet. How about you go ahead and make the order and give it a try? I'd personally go with the Nine Ball because it has a threaded tip... *ahem* if you can't get it to work in yours, I'll buy it off of you. XD

May I inquire as to why you want a new barrel? Is it because your KJW came with an orange tip?

When did you get your KJW? They have made 1911 a long time ago(3+ years) that was based on WA. Though since they've released the 2nd version thats cloned from TM.

If yours is recent, then yes TM parts "should" work. But since its cloned it means you can't be certain that the tolerance will work out all the time.

Yes it is because it comes with a 1/4" longer barrel that is painted in orange. Even if it was black, a 1911A1 with extra barrel does not fly with me. I could use a saw on the barrel but i rather buy a new one and replace it.

I got it this week BNIB. so i guess it is a TM Clone.

I saw some video on how to strip it but it is a pain to actually take out the barrel out of the slide...

Should've gotten a glock. My barrel/ hopup and recoil spring guide come out in less than 5 seconds. I love glocks : )

lol, I'm just not a fan of Glock "perfection" in RS form. I find that those who usually purchase a 1911 or other single stacker are usually not Glock fans at all.

Anyway, in order to not derail this thread anymore, to the OP - the inner barrel assembly removal just takes a whole bunch of practice. It's totally easier than removing an inner barrel/hop up chamber from a 6" Hi-Capa, I can tell you that much, lol.

I got the same KJW 1911, 2 weeks ago. I removed the tip using a tube cutter last week. It was quite an experience but well worth it. There's a bit more work to do after the cutting. I'd say the entire process took me 1 hr and cost $13 for the cutter. If you decide to go that way, just let me know and I can go into details.

Mmmm...tube cutter is a neat trick...it sure would make a better cut then a saw... at least with my skills :o)

I have order a Guarder replacement barrel... I tried to remove the existing barrel and could not do it... i will try again when I have more time and more patience... Any one out there as some tips on how to remove the outer barrel ONCE the slide is remove but i guess it is the guiding rod that can not be easily remove.

There is something here on the ASC forum about removing the inner barrel. I saw it last week when I was considering that option. I can't find it for you now, I'm at work.
