WGC Weirdness

Hey guys,

Ive been ordering from WGC for quite some time now. As you know, during the check out process, you get to select your method of payment. I always select paypal and confirm the order. When WGC replies with a shipping quote, they have always agreed to my method of payment as paypal. Just recently, I have placed an order and here are the items:

1. mag catch
2. slide lock
3. steel bolt
4. mag base
5. metal slide for 5.1

When WGC returns with a shipping quote, it automatically changed my payment method to MONEY WIRE, and when I ask them why this is so, they responded by saying:

"Thank you for your inquiry,Please be inform that we can't guarantee the delviery to Canada. So,we accept money wire only. Thanks"

This is odd. As I look at my list of items, everything should be able to pass customs. But do you think WGC is afraid that my slide will be confiscated by customs, and do not want me to file a paypal dispute incase it doesnt go through? Thus, they want a money wire for security instead? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

WGC (and possibly a few other places) started doing that a while back AFAIK because too many people (read: stupid noobs who didn't listen to experienced members of the community) were getting butthurt and using Paypal the chargeback thing when their shit didn't get through customs.

So pretty much they've put a blanket ban on shipping to Canada with any method other than Wire Transfer since you can't use a chargeback feature for Wire Transfers.

To answer your question, yes it was probably the pistol slide.

Canada Customs has the ability to seize whatever they want. Whether you can appeal it or not is another matter altogether, but too many people who aren't aware of this blame WGC for this and file PayPal disputes.

This is why WGC no longer accepts PayPal from Canadians - because we're ignorant about our own system. :P

Which slide?

I've switched over to RedWolf for all my overseas retailing needs, unless it's a minor part that ebaybanned carries for cheap (BUIS etc).

Unfortunately, I had to get my hands on a part that only WGC carried (LCT RPK receiver), so I plunged into the whole wire transfer business.... On top of any fees that WGC mentions, expect around $30 for your bank to do the transfer... Definitely only worth it for hard to find parts.

However, the order went fine in typical WGC fashion.

A solution might be for someone from ASC to contact WGC and broker some sort of deal where if the person ordering is AV'ed on ASC (ie. trustworthy and 80% of the time won't be an ass and submit a Paypal chargeback) then they should allow them to pay using Paypal.

I don't know how the coding/logistics of this would work however it might be a good solution in theory but not very practical since they would have to somehow have a system that cross checks whether or not the person ordering is AV'ed and even then it might be susceptible to some sort of spoofing (ie. Joe Blow saying that he's <insert AV'ed member screen name here>) AND they're not guaranteed that the person isn't going to be an asshole and order a chargeback.

You actually can pay direct with your Credit card but they would charge 5 $ extra , it would worst though than paid by PayPal. I stop using PayPal a while back since I got fucked up by some punk.

Use www.xoom.com. The fees are minimal, and they withdraw directly from your account. I've used them several times, and it always went smoothly and quickly.

@WhiskeySix: Thanks!

Red Flags... their all over complaint boards and agencies with scams and bad services. Just a FYI.
