Has anyone used SPR radios?

Any one have some experience with SPR radios? (Secure Personal Radios), similar to PRR methodology, but not in the 2.5 GHz range and generally higher encryption. I've seen some with the ultra-low broadcast power and automatic repeater of all the radios ("mesh" style repeaters) or higher power, non-mesh-repeaters.

I've been looking at the Relm RP 3300 series (specifically RPU3300A), as it's exportable (Stupid ITAR) with AES 256 bit encryption, 450-470Mhz, OTAR, and I think P25 (Phase 1?) compatable (it's talked about, but it's not on their spec sheet). But there is a bit of sticker shock.

Just wondering if someone has found a high quality, lower priced alternative here?

I would love to have a radio that operated in a Mesh. Maybe we need a group order?

Wow, thanks for dealing with that for me. If I actually saw that guys post I would have lost my shit and definitely gotten some demerits.

I don't really believe that mesh would be required in Canada. Although I would love to see some electronic attack/electronic defense in the comms plan, most of that equipment is just plain illegal for non-LE, non-mil ownership. Running a 50 mW transmitter in mesh certainly lowers the intercept probability from any sort of distance due to purposefully increasing the free-space loss. But that's why it's just a team radio, you're not that far from your team-mates, and you can have an organic pathing to whomever you need to. Not good for talking to HQ.

Especially, if you're looking at a game like Unfinished Business with it's strong recommendation of GPS and the buddy system because the terrain is just that demanding, I'd really want a full watt or two to maximize my ability to punch out a signal. (I may even want 5 watts plus an antenna with gain, but that of course is a no-no)

I'm liking the Wouxun KG-uvd1p with a Diamond SRHF40 antenna for a much more flexible radio setup for Airsoft at the moment. Certainly is cheaper than running a Dual PTT or dual downlead headset.

I was hoping that someone may have messed with SPR's; I think the buttmunch of a 13-year old has probably shot this thread in the foot.

So, with that, some radio 'porn for you:
James Bond style
Concealable TCR1000 radio
With flat Antenna
With ... well, the James Bond earpiece and wireless ptt

Hard core PMC
(The radio from OP) Two of Good crypto radio
Behind the plate antenna
Dual PTT
Peltor ComTac II
OR
Boomless headset (Useful if you need to maintain comms and may suddenly have to put on gasmask. However, has something in your ear, which is really bad if someone punches you in the ear, the solution to that issue would be the on the bottom of this page, except I can't find data on how good the signal is from them.)

(BTW, did not talk about the Silynx because still seems a fair amount gimmicky at the moment)
