Madbull BB Shattered!

Hey everyone, just thought I would share this, and I figured reviews section was best. If not, mods please move it to the appropriate section.

Was just firing off a few BBs, just testing out my Hicapa, and a madbull 0.25g normal white BB, upon impact with the wall, broke into several pieces!

As far as I knew, BBs definitely are not supposed to break into multiple pieces!

Anyone else experienced this from Madbull BBs?

Skladfin July 7th, 2009 23:28

happens to all BBs I've owned(especially if fired from really close range).

ujiro July 7th, 2009 23:30

Even with Bastards? I've never seen this happen when I use Bastards.

The Saint July 7th, 2009 23:32

I've shattered BB Bastards before. There's nothing special about BBs shattering.

Skladfin July 7th, 2009 23:32

happened when I shot it point black at concrete 400FPS :D

don't worry man, it happens to all BBs if you shoot it close enough with a high enough velocity. Seems like Madbull is much easier than other brands?

Alright cool. Just weird because it was out of a Hicapa. Although, it has a 7" PDI 6.01 barrel.. So it is probably shooting just a taaaad bit hotter than most GBB pistols.

I was testing some Bioval bb's today and was shooting glass bottles at point blank with a 400fps ak (with proper eye protection of course) and the BB's were shattering, then tried the same thing with some unknown Japanese brand of .20s and then bastards and the same thing happened.

Funny thing tho, none of the 3 bb brands shattered on my mesh mask at the same range with the same gun, now to find a car window...lol

shattering into pieces is fine. shattering to a dust like consistency I'd have issue with.

LOL...all bbs break shot hard enough into a solid surface.

I go through about 4000-6000 bbs a month (because recently I tend to knock my F8cking bag over onto the floor!!!)...KSC/Madbull/BBbastard/some other brand I can't remember. They all break.

However...take a "fresh" bag of bbs...and a really old "stale" bag. Squeeze them both with pliers (or in a vice with metal jaws)...see if you notice a difference. Some bbs will squish as they break up....sort of like when you knead a loaf of bread dough and you have too much flour in it (I probably just lost 90% of you guys...LOL). Others will quickly break up into pieces and disintegrate.

If a BB were to hit something and break up...I suppose that it'd be preferable that it does the dry-bread-dough thing than the shrapnel thing. I took a bb in the back of the throat and swallowed it at the last game....I hope it doesn't do a shrapnel thing on it's way out.

Ujrio - when Daiviet came out to CAPS with his 7" long upgraded hicapa...he was all excited and pumped up about how fast it should shoot. If I recall correctly it was about 310 or 330fps when we put it through the chrony. He still shot well, and his pistol performed well. Chrony to be sure...everything else is just a half assed guess.

The reason for this is the mesh has flex which bends and absorbs the force and is a relatively soft surface for the bb to impact. I use these face masks on occasion and have tested them myself and have never seen a BB shatter of break-up on the mesh goggles. In my opinion these can be safer than some shooting glasses that are hard enough to break-up a bb and cause plastic shrapnel.

^ I always believed that bio-bb's shattered on contact with mesh, making a plastic dust that would damage the user's eyes etc. maybe it's the cheaper brands of the bio's?
