M4 buffer tube "The Saga Continues"
 

So yet again I rin into another problem trying to use a crane stock om my M4.
So I get the new buffer tube and stock from Hunag and it fits great now but... As I was screwing the buffer tube into the receiver the screw stripped, badly. Now I can't move it either way and the head of the screw has more of a circle than a star or square head. I tried to use a chisel and a mallet to put a grove in the screwhead for a flathead screw driver, but the plate the screw is up against is made so the screwhead is flush with it. Does anyone know of a way I can get the screw out of the buffer tube? Its a good five inches down. The only thing I can think of is to cut the buffer tube down with a hacksaw and try to drill the screw. Please anyone who has an idea or has had this problem help me out. I'd rather not detroy this new buffer tube.

I would say to pick up one of those stripped screw extractor thingys from crappy tire. Put it on an extension and have at 'er.

How far is the screw screwed into the mechbox?
If it's not that far down, you can pull out the buffer tube a bit and unscrew the neck yourself between the buffer tube and the reciever. If not, I have no way to think except to saw your buffer tube in half and then take the screw out with pliers.

Can't unscrew from the neck because it has flairs on both sides to stop the buffer tube from turning.

try the screw extractor... might work or try to find a very long drill bit, i know there is some

No I hand screwed it, and the star became a circle. You have no idea the amount of trouble this buffertube and stock have caused me. The minute I get it right it might explode and burn my house down or something.

ahhhh your using a lipo :p

i had a similar issue with my M4 body pins, i got the CA ones that have a locking screw and it stripped, best thing to do is get that set from CT that grips into stripped screws

Remember the link that I gave you last time about crane stock. You don't need to buy buffer tube for lipo but those crane stock can store a short or long 11.1 V stick Lipo battery in their compartment, so no worry that you have a pipe bomb in the house.

You might want to go to Canadian Tire to find a screw extractor to take out the screw, I think, I saw one that can put on the long screwdriver like an adapter.

Sorry for necroing but I have the same problem, how can I get my screw out? it's pretty deep and I can't find screw extractors 6 inches long.

Try those multi screwdriver bit extension use the drill to male the hole for the teath to grab the screw. put the part your extracting the screw out in the vice then use an adjustable wrench to loosen it out i.f you dont want to use to much tork with the drill. I use that trick at work all the time

I doubt you'll be able to use a screw extractor in this situation, unless there's still an edge on the head for it to bite into. Other wise, chopping the buffer tube is the only option.

Use something like that on a power drill with a few 4" but extensions put together
