The tm psg-1 has some weird backwards mechbox that amatures wont like. Other than that its all personal prefrence

If you want an "AEG" sniper rifle a TM M14 will probably be your best bet.

the CA is more easily upgradeable. The PSG 1 has a longer barrel. I built a MSG90 from a G3 which is a more practical solution to a PSG1 style rifle....and it is more of a military style
sniper rifle

I have a PSG-1 ( PSG-50 ) and one of my team mates have an SL8.

Both weapons are amazing and shoot VERY well when upgraded properly. As with any sniper type weapon it should shoot fairley decent out of the box but it will require some upgrading.

With the PSG-1 this can be easy if you only plan on getting a TB and a stronger sprnig as the spring is easily accessible without opening the whole mechbox. If you want to get some stronger gears it may be a bit trickey as the Version 4 mechbox is a strange one.

The PSG-1 uses a v4 mechbox as stated by Cobra. Parts for this one can be tricky to find. The PSG-1 is a sniper weapon ONLY (semi-auto). The SL8 has the advantage of using a v3 mechbox, which is quite common and broadly available, so parts and upgrades for the internals should be easier to get. Also it is, from another point of view, a modified G36. You could easily switch from assault rifle to sniper from a quick and simple barrel/frontset change. And the stock is cool too.

what about price wise????

Donster April 20th, 2009 22:14

it would be easier finding replacement parts for the CA one.

BORDENSNIPER April 20th, 2009 23:23

get an SL8, parts are easier to find, the mechbox is easier to work on, and its sexy

CA SL8 in stock form is terrible. don't buy it unless you have a complete v3 mechbox to replace.
Mine had terrible accuracy out the box as well.

Strange.. my CA36 (essentially an SL8 with a different stock and front end) performed great out of the box.
