Bio BB?
 

Hi,

To begin I need to say that i'm pretty new in airsoft.
I know a guys that run a new paintball field, he's open about airsoft but one of his requirement is about BB. For the field owner (a sugar house) every BB or paintball balls NEED to be bio because the tree that grow there will be use for sirup.
What do you think about the Bio BB? I know that the walmart bio are pretty cheap, i also read about the Bioval BB but they break window... Do you know a good brand for Bio BB?
I heard that every BB are biodegradable, it's true? Do you have a proof of that for the field owner?

don't bio bb's shatter when they hit wire or mesh masks?

all bb's are degradeable and the bio bbs basically degrade at the same rate. I used those wallmart bb's and im still finding some perfically shaped ones from LAST year. If your worried about the bb's hurting the trees they won't do much so don't worry. if the owner doesn't want a crapload of noticable white bb's around just use black ones.

if your using the bio degradeable bb's open them 2-8 days before you game and then they should degrade faster. If you open them on game day expect them to degrade like normal bb's

Everything is "biodegradable" given sufficient time.

Not all bio BBs shatter on impact. Most of the brands available in Canada does, because we don't really import the excellent bio BBs they use in Europe.

The horrible bio BBs we're subjected to here in Canada are terrible. They're horrible quality, have terrible finishes, and will break into dust and small shards when shot at a hard object, meaning that they can penetrate mesh masks.

The Bioval sound like they may be the answer to it. From what I've read about them, they're quite hard and don't break or deform on impact. As for breaking windows - the report is that it's car windows they shot out. However, I'd say if you just don't shoot at windows, then you're probably fine.

Well... Paintballs I could see wanting to use something non toxic/environmentally friendly (sunflower oil IIRC) and all that....

Paintballs break on impact and theres well..... paint everywhere now which will leach into the ground. BB's however will stay solid after impact and since they're essentially pieces of plastic they're not really more or less harmful than burying a plastic bag in the ground... That's just my thinking...

The other option is to import the Bio BB's from eurpoe :)

I think the owner prefer to use Bio BB because he probably think that the plastic will contaminate his ground. If you can proof me that every BB can biodegrade, can you give it to me?

I think that if I have a proof of that and if we buy black BB, he will be fine with that.

Do you have a brand of Bio BB from Europe. Cause this guy run a paintball shop and also carry some airsoft accesories and he want to sell BB so he probably can import it.

I will check if BB Bastard make black BB, or i will try to find another brand that make it.

Styrofoam. I wouldn't really call something that biodegrades in 1000 years biodegradable.. I'd call that uranium-esque :)

The owner was attracted by Bioval BB but if it can break a windows i dont imagine what it can do on the skin... I propose him to buy a little bag to test it, try if it really break a window and also test if the BB are "good".
If the price of the BB are the same we will probably go with it but if i need to pay more for less, i will try to proof him that any bb can be bio

You gotta remember too that regular bb's are plastic, and therefor made out of strings of carbon and hydrogen which the major components of carbon based lifeforms like us. The reason why it is so difficult to bio-degrade is that the bb's have either a mineral or petroleum coating that prevents biodegredation.

So in short: The plastic bb's won't contaminate the soil but the owner will have to put up with the bb's sitting in his field for about 100 years.

and with that using black bb's is the answer because there hardly noticeable once you get a few hundred white bb's in a field you start to take notice :)

Yeah, but with those you can't see where you're shooting. Black BB's suck.

I will probably buy a bag of BBB Max to test it, and find by myself if those are very bad ;) (i'm waiting for a price...)

BBB line your inner barrel causing it to jam up !

Have you test it? Or you have read it some where. That's a reason why I will test it
