Shooters design Or Freedom Art ?
 

Guys, I'm buying a lower frame for TM Hi capa 5.1 and I am down to two choices :The SD and Freedom Art. Anyone has any comments on these 2 products? The price for SD is twice as expensive, but is it worth the money? I intend to buy the long dust cover series. Thanks for your help

From what I've seen, the Freedom Art slides and lowers are just about as good as the SD slides, so why not get the FA one?

I have a Freedom Art frame, its very nice, didn't require much work to get it installed on my hi-capa. Shooters Design frames are supposed to be a bit better in the quality I think but you'd have to PM Illusion on the boards since he's worked with so many hi-capas.

Personally, why don't you try some of the new Airsoft Surgeon frames? The full length rails are supposed to make the action a hell of a lot smoother

Where did he ask for the cheapest one ? He wanted to know which one is the best option and don't be an asshole and pretend we don't look at the prices from the same places. I mean this guy will probably order from a website such as WGC, UNC or Redwolf.... you know those websites we all use to order parts or get an idea of a price on something restricted we order from retailers.

I only know 2 :WGC and Dentrinity. Those 2 websites dont have the rails right now and I dont know when they gonna have them available. Thanks

Redwolf used to carry them. UNC might as well. However, there are a number of them that have been out for awhile now and that may no longer be in production. Like Shooters Design, production seems to be in batches - once they're out, they're out for a good long time (if not just for good).

Personally, I like both Freedom Art as well as Shooters Design.

If you want lots of choice in varieties and lengths (rails, no rails, scope mount bases, compensators, extra length, Kimber style, etc etc) then go with Freedom Art.

If you want something realistic to build a Strayer Voigt Infinity or STI replica, then go with Shooters Design - it's pretty much as simple as that.

I haven't worked with the Airsoft Surgeon / ProG4 frames yet, but I have several on the way. If I were to judge them based on the construction of the other Airsoft Surgeon products I've used in the past, I would say that despite costing a premium, they would be totally worth it and direct drop in replacements, with perfect fit and function, especially with other parts of the same brand. The downside is that they do not yet have limited frames, so if you're looking for a long dust cover design, you'll have to stick with Shooters Design. However, they do offer a bit more variety on top of STI & SV with Limcat choices.

Freedom Art frames I've found about 95% of them requiring some level of filing to the rear rail areas that the slide fits on or sometimes modification of the hammer hole for widening. I have come across other random issues here and there but are all fixable with a set of small files. Know what you're doing if you're doing fitment with a file or you could render your gun useless if you mess up the frame.

Shooters Design frames I've found to be built generally very well with very crisp edges and corners all around and a great anodization process, although the fit does seem to be a bit tighter in tolerancing. This tolerance issue between the FA and SD frames are a result of the manufacturing process (and thus, the price) as the Freedom Art frames are die-casted whereas the Shooters Design frames are CNC machined from a solid block of aluminum.

Overall, I say get whatever suits your needs/looks/appearance more - the STI/SVI look is not for everyone and in that case, Freedom Art is your only choice. But if you're looking at building a replica of a competitive shooting pistol, Shooters Design and Airsoft Surgeon / ProG4 are right down your alley.

No. Very little fitment is required for SD frames, although there are two areas that I've noticed, due to improper CNC coding:

1) When looking at the pistol frame left side at the cutout for the slide catch, the lower right corner is a bit too tight. It either needs to be opened up or the slide catch will need to be modified in order for it to fit.

2) The opening for the disconnect lever is a bit tight - take down the edge closer to the muzzle end to allow the disconnector to move more freely.

airsoft surgeon...I much prefer the pinned hammer/trigger/striker mechanism compare to the bolt-on split in-half of the typical Hi-Capa frame. I didn't much care for my Freedom Art frame, as it did require quite a bit of fitting a fiddling. I've heard SD's are much better in that respect, and is a drop-in fit. Note that if you do get the AS frame, you get the valve-striker and sear upgraded with the frame.

will the FA frames allow a longer inner barrel installed? do i also need to buy a longer outer barrel for it? i plan to get one for my 4.3
