m4 metal body

hi i have been looking around trying to find what brand metal body will fit my tm m4 i know there is some work that needs to be done to them before they fit right iv been looking at the Dboys body's since they are the most common on here but i have read in many places that there will be a gap between the upper and lower no matter what mods you do some people say they fit no problem and others say that they have the gap is there any one who can clear this up for me is there a gap with the Dboys metal body or not

I have never seen any noticeable gaps on the ones I have installed.

here's a pic of what u can make out of Dboys metal body

its very good, though if u want to use a TM mechbox, you'd have to sand down a little bit of the selector switch disk.

It's really easy, great product too.

oh and btw the newer metal bodies from them have the largest sized mag well ive ever seen

I have a DBoys C8 metal body, and the parts fit together very well. The only fitting that was required was I had to sand the interior of the mag well, since only my high-cap mags would fit properly. None of my mid-caps would fit.

one more question i haven't been able to find a solid answer to this either do you absolutely need a metal hop up unit with a metal body or can i temporarily use the stock tm plastic hop up unit untell i can pick one up

jesster202 July 16th, 2008 02:39

if it stock one peice shure but it has to be a 1 peice and tm dosnt use 1 peice they use 2 peice so awanser is no if its stock tm.

Would the G&P M4/M16 Metal Hop-up Set (http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=304) and the King Arms M4/M16 Enhanced Hop-Up (http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=514) fit properly the dboys metal body?

jesster202 July 16th, 2008 06:14

yep but i would go with a systema as they rape and they are the best.

TokyoSeven July 16th, 2008 06:19

Those two hop ups "should" fit without issue, the key word being should.
If you end up with a shite body like I did you will have all sorts of fun headaches from the hopup not aligning to having to grind the inside of the reciever so the mechbox will fit, to having to grind the upper reciever so it will slide onto the mechbox properly and a whole but load of other crap that simply makes me regret not spending the extra 50 or 60 bucks at the time.

There have been alot of people who have had great luck with the dboys bodies. I am not one of them. The best thing I can say about a dboys body for me is that the experiance that I had with them is similar to that of having a very very large pine cone inserted into your rectum and then when its all the way in someone ever so slowly pulls it out taking their time to turn it fully clock wise once every 2mm until it is all the way out, and just when you think the fun is over, You are then forced to eat the pine cone and wash it down with a glass of vinegar and and tobacco spit.

Without meaning to sound rude...

But what does a body have to do with a hop up?

jesster202 July 16th, 2008 06:26

all metal bodys correct me if im wrong but i belive pretty much any metal body you must go to a one peice hop up or then theirs no way your gun will feed bbs because theirs no hop up.

Gunk July 16th, 2008 06:31

Can you not just take a metal body and install the body over the parts you have, or vice versa?

Why does what the body is made of change what kind of Hop up you need? Is a body not a body regardless of what it's made of? What is different between a plastic 416 body and a metal 416 body?

Where is the line drawn that states "If you pass here you must have a metal hop up"?

jesster202 July 16th, 2008 06:43

Never said you needed a metal one, but you need a one peice, as when you get a metal body the part were you would install the lower half of the hop up and screw it on is gone its not their, so now theirs no way you can install that peice, now you need to get a 1 peice as its the only way it will work. also a one peice provides better air seal form what im told so why owuldnt you want that anyways its nothing to argue abotu its a face that you need a ONE PEICE hop up unit wether its metal or plasitc who cares just the metal one will be more durable.

NOTE ill upload some pictures of a lower rciver so you get what i mean gunk as then you will see that theirs no part to screw on the lower half of the hop up and then you can look at your 416 or w/e and see that peice of plastic that sould be their to mount the lower half of the hop up assembly.
see were the plastic part would knormaly be at the front of the reciver its not their thats the reason you need a one peice hop unit. i have 4 of thoes d boys metal bodys sitting infront of me and it dosnt make a diffrence on my king arms or my d boys they are all the same way.

Gotcha. Thanks.

I wasn't differentiating between metal vs one piece hop up... just hop ups in general. I couldn't see how a metal body could warrant needing a different hop up, but then, I didn't think it'd be made slightly differently.
