G36C Woes

Hey there, just received a sorta-broken G36. I got the mechbox and motor working fine. Now it's shooting sometimes, sometimes not, and usually shotgunning BB's. Now I think this is either a problem with the Private Parts conversion magwell, the Pro-Win hopup, or the shitty hicap I'm using.

I already tried some silicone oil in the hopup, didn't do anything. I'm going to pick up a KA lowcap mag from TokyoSeven tonight and rule out the mag.

Ideas?

Sounds like a hopup problem. The unit isn't letting BBs through properly, and eventually enough BBs jam up and to force their way past the obstruction point.

I took a look at it. Is it possible there's not enough space between the nozzle and the hopup opening to let BB's through?

Shouldn't be, unless the Prowin is dimensionally off by a lot compared to a stock hopup chamber.

Pictures may help, just a minute.

The second picture is supposed to show how the nozzle is at or a little above horizontally across from the front edge of the hopup. Does that seem right?

I had similar problems with my kraken with a pro-win hop up, put the stock one back and its running great now. I heard bad things about the g36 pro wins too, if you have a spare one around try it out...

Shitty thing is I don't have a stock hopup. Anyone wanna trade for a Prowin!?

Another question, what the hell is the switch dealie on the top of the hopup (to the very right of the nozzle)?
It's sprung, and if you press on it, it presses a nub up on the outside top of the hopup but I don't have a clue what it does.

It is to prevent the bbs to be more than one in the chamber per cycle, and to make sure they don't end up in random places in the gun body (like behind the trigger, or under the selector lever)

Update: Seems to be shooting 1 BB at a time in semi now, but it's only chronying at about 100 FPS give or take (70-120). Help?

if you are using the hopup sleeve that came with the pro-win, replace it.
also it wouldne be a bad idea to replace the spring on that little ramp thing with a stiffer one (it will stop multiple feeds).

the opening on the hopup rubber is too narrow, so its only letting BBs through once the air pressure from the cylinder has enough force to push the BB through the hopup opening. once the BB does make it through, you already lost most of the air from the cylinder.

the pro-win hopup opening is so narrow it can have enough pressure to stop the nozzle from pushing the BB forward.

Well I also forgot that the mechbox is as dry as a 80-year old's vagina. So it maybe an issue with the piston not running smoothly, etc. I'll have to lube it and test. Also, the hopup rubber is "KM Reinforced Hop-Bucking 55 (AEG160N1)", so it's not the original.

Okay, problem most likely fixed, I just have to find the right screw.

Yeah, see those pictures? Theres a *HUGE* gap between the nozzle and the hopup, which is causing my feeding and FPS problems.

Just have to get the right screw and put it together. The hopup actually attaches to the mechbox.

hey styrak, can you post the pic of the hopup that you fixed? because i just read this thread and its a bit too late that my prowin hopup is already on its way, maybe i can do the same trick if i encounter the same problem... cheers
