What type of sling?

I really apologize for making 3 threads in a row, but its my first time gear shopping and questions are popping up every now and then.

Just a quick one: Whats the best type of sling?

This'll be for an M15A4.
Thank you!

answer= what ever you personally find comfortable.

I'd get the 3 points.

Because the one point only allow you to have your weapon dangle freely as the 3 points allow you to set it on angle. It's also safer when going up or down ladders. I love it for weapon transition too.

I'd go with 1 point only with a very short weapon, like an MP7 or P90. I use a 3 points on my P90 though.

Its all preference really, I have both 1 point and 3 point slings and I personally find my 1 point the comfiest to use, but thats me.

I like the blackhawk 3 point for armalites.

Single is only recommended for CQC, or "Urban operations", with short barreled weapons. Unless you like digging with your muzzle.

2 point is probably the way to go.

Never tried three point, but apparently there's a few out there which are pretty decent...

Check that out. Hope it helps.

Ouch, I quote, regarding 3 point slings:

"They offer none of the advantages of an adjustable two point with almost every negative in the book. They tend to hang up on kit big time. For a right hander they can interfere with controls and for a left hander they interfere with ejection. If you are standing around with no body armor on they may be cool (I don’t think so) but with any gear on shooters quickly figure out they are lame beyond belief. Like I said fortunately most people have gotten the word on three point slings so they are scarce in the circles I run in."

Moved thread to gear forum.

MacG!ver, there are forums dedicated to particular subjects. Please use them accordingly.

I don't find 3 points slings comfortable at all.

I like to use a 2 points sling with hooks so it can bee turned into a 1 point by having both hooks on the same swivel.

If you use a 1 point sling with an M4, you'll need one of the many available sling mounts that goes between the body and the stock:

I used too loop the issue sling like this, worked well.

Also did the paracord an issue sling(see Black Hawk Down) thing untill my Vickers got to me.

been using the Vickers Combat Application Sling since Sept an its working out well for me so far.

if you want one of those sling adapters, i have a brand new G&P swivel adaptor i can sell you. damn thing wouldnt fit my SR25, but it will fit any other m4. pm me. also, i dig the one point, but thats just me

Jayhad February 25th, 2008 23:50

<yself and most of my team rock the slings that just attach into your CIRAS, most comfortable thing every I even can comfortably carry my TOP saw with it... but as said before a long gun would suck but I had an AUG with a phantom kit that was long but didn't have any problems with

Farmboy February 26th, 2008 00:10

With slings like the Vickers (VCAS) out there, three point slings are now obsolete.

For slings, Blue Force Gear is the best.

1) Modular so they fit on ANY weapon.
2) Solution washed nylon so it doesn't cut your neck like every other "seat belt" sling
3) Comes in 4 colors
4) IR treated
5) Lifetime Warrenty
6) Will work for right or left handed shooters
