Charging battery when allmost full

I tried to find some answers searching about battery charging, but couldn't find anything. My question is, I charged my 8.4v 1300ma last week for the amount of time it needed to be fully charged (5-6 hours), and I have used it a few times to fire the 200 bb's that came with the gun. So, say the battery is at 85%, do you have to have the battery completely discharged before you charge it again? or can you charge it for just a few hours?

is it NiMh or NiCd? If it's Nicd, then fully discharge it before recharging. For Nimh, you dont need to.

I regularly top up my NiMH as well when I need to. So far it's lasted me over 2 years and still has long like. And this batt has been used at least once per month at games.

It should say somewhere on the battery.

it says NiMh, so i can charge it for 2 hours, and it will be fine?

Yea. NiMh don't suffer from the memory effect like NIcads

If you have a smart charger/digital peak charger it's even easier, because you just have to set it and forget it basically. It's always a good idea to be in the area when you're charging a battery to monitor it occasionally, but they are automatic shutoff.
