kraken?

i heard it's rebrand of cyma

Rukus August 22nd, 2007 16:09

buy it and find out, but I'm leaning toward the craptacular side.

Simply wait until you are 18, then buy something decent legally.

If you want something to plink around in your basement with, go ahead.
I dont see why not. Your time, your investment, but as it stands please keep in mind that the opinions you will recieve from us on the forum in regards to clearsoft will be very low. The majority of us spend a fair amount of money and a good amount of time into actual airsoft, so as you can see our opinions on clearsoft are not very high.

I can understand that you are very anxious to get an AEG and get out there and play, but in airsoft paitence is the key, both on and off the field.

In the end of you do choose to purchase the item from canadian tire, keep in mind that you will be getting exactly what you pay for. Poor internals that maybe to power for it, held together by a plastic mechbox held together by a plastic body, and remeber that 370fps is most likly with 0.12g BBs. Then again this is all based on assumption, so I could be entirely wrong. It could be fun while it lasts for plinking around the basement.

But with the utmost repsect to you, it is your money, your investment.

very well said tokyo seven, but if he is refering to gamos airsoft/crapsoft line which is called the aftermath kraken which is tm compatible 100%. The AK 47 model, I first started with that to test the waters but have since moved on to CA's. Anyways getting back to it, the kraken does have a full steel mechbox and gears, it is a version 3 style mech box. I did some upgrades to mine such as pdi 140%, mad bull tight bore, piston head, cylinder, everything except for the gears!! Chronied it last week using .23s,, 330fps! not bad for a so called crapsoft. It got me in the sport, plus being compatible.
I say go for it then upgrade.

Full steel mechbox? I highly, highly doubt that. But it is metal. Its a Cyma with different colored "wood". Should perform good on the field. Great for those what plan to install a metal body anyway. Good for the price. Personally, if I was in your shoes, I would get it.

Note, thats all for the AK-47 model. The others should be decent too though (AR, MP5...)

if nothing else, it can be used to shoot "giant prehistoric space sized hornets"

Greylocks August 22nd, 2007 17:41

No matter how good or bad it is, he still should wait until he can purchase and own it legally. Suggesting that he get an airsoft (of any kind) is also suggesting that he ignores the laws. Not good either way.

People have started calling me the unofficial Aftermath Kraken spokesperson lol! I took the Kraken out to a local milsim and it got good reviews from everyone who handled it. One guy with a TM AK was skeptical until he slapped in one of his TM AK Mags and fired off a few rounds.

It is the perfect cheap starter gun for people getting into the sport without spending the huge amounts of money. It out shot a stock TM AK for distance and accuracy as well as a CA M14 Match.

It one of those guns you can buy and play with while saving up for a name brand. So far mine has been through over 5000 rounds and the only problem was it dropped 5fps which is to be expected since a new spring loses some fps with regular use.

They Sell 100% TM Compadible AK47's that shoot at 370 FPS, at C-tire!? ....right and Pigs can fly! (*Pig flies by window*)

LOL! :flame:

I HAVE heard some bad things about the ones bought at CT! 9 out of 10 times I've had someone email me complaining that their Kraken doesn't shoot 370fps or anywhere near it, they had purchased it at CT! Most of these have the Tan colour stocks and grips whereas all the ones I've handled that shot 360-370 had OD coloured stocks and grips.

Nik12 August 22nd, 2007 18:16

Oxymoron?

medhatboy August 22nd, 2007 18:35

The Aftermath M4 that I got just for the hell of it claimed on the box to shoot 360-370, but only with .12gr bb's, with .2's it drops to 300 and with .25's dropped to 270. It has the tan stock and grips, works ok, just some squeeking from the SIR front end, and the slow fps with regular weight bb's.
