Hey just wanted to know what you guys usually use for eye protection when playing. Do you use just goggles or full fask mask.

goggles. paint ball masks look lame IMO, i believe there already was a poll for this.

I second the mouth guard. I've had about $5000 in braces, so I want to protect my teeth as well.
The mouth guard makes it hard to talk, so I'm thinking of switching to a balaclava, and armoring the area in front of the mouth.

Or keep your mouth closed! ;)

I use paintball goggles at PB fields, and Bolle or ESS at non-PB fields.

- honestly, wear what your comfortable with. Full Face masks = all around protection but sometimes hinders peripheral vision. Goggles = lighter, more liberating? but your on your own if you get shot in the cheek... or forehead, or nose, or chin or.... I'd say you need eye protection regardless, so get yourself a full face mask, then yank the goggles out of the mask... play both ways, see how ya like it....who cares what other folks may do, some will wear goggles, some, full face, and so on.. do whats comfortable for you..

anyway the reason this thread exists is because buddy hasn't been to a game yet and goggles are a semi serious investment (80-100$?). my advice: pick up a set of spectra equipped jt's at your local paintball store. i bought the nforcer mask at canadian tire and after a few games chose to use it sans mask. nice thing about most masks is that you can easily reattach it to the goggles once it's been removed. after you've gamed it a few times you may think of something else, maybe goggles+balaclava? or goggles with a piece of fabric hanging off the bottom? i dont know, just buy a pair of jt spectras and play from there. i'd use them over my bolles and shooting glasses anyday, you know your eyes are safe, it'll never fog and you have a massive viewing angle at the sacrifice of being slightly higher profile.

Sorry dude, when I first read the thread, it just reminded me of a few old commercials. Regardless of full face vs. goggles, you still need eye protection. I'll agree, they are a pricey buy, and it's good to check out whats available. Figured every post would be 'googles are better, no no full face is better' - etc. - :p

Personally I like wearing goggles with a shemagh pulled up just a bit to cover the mouth. I've had one of my lower teeth shot out at a game and it wasn't pleasant (I was wearing a mouth guard that just covered my top teeth).

Anyone know if these G&P goggles have any certification or are they just for show?

i found out that if you wear a full mask, people arent as afraid to shoot your head if it pops out

i dont use goggles or a face mask, i use safety glasses.
theres alot of goggle and face masks that wont take a BB hit from a sniper rifle, but ive never seen safety goggles crack from anything less than a hammer blow.

important thing to consider is anything black usually stands out ALOT on the fields. paintball masks, black SWAT vests, big guns, the black spots on cadpat...

Now, with the shemaghs and balaclavas, how is the sweat? Do you guys get hot or dizzy? And if you wear the shemagh over your mouth/nose, when you are breathing, what do you do to compensate for the condensation? I find, when I wear a mouthless balaclava or any material over my mouth (since I do breath through my mouth) I tend to get severe moisture problems. I'm hoping not to hear just some "breath through your damn nose" posts.. but they are probably inevitable.

Shemaghs are pretty breathable. You can breath through your mouth and not get goggle fog. It also depends on the goggles, some fog up pretty easily some don't. I have a pair of JT Spectras I believe and I haven't had much problems with fog while wearing a shemagh over my mouth. Obviously during the winter months its more of a problem.
