My Glock 19

This thing is pretty beat up. It doesn't look pretty, but it's an airsoft gun not a showpiece.

Now, before you ask me what this thing has in it. I don't know. I'm pretty new to this game and I picked this up off a buddy of mine who I don't think he even knew what it was for.

The light I got after I received the pistol.
All I know is that it has a metal slide, and doesn't work very well. If I knew how to make it shoot properly I would.

I also have a pressure switch for the light which is not pictured.

What do you guys think?

Red Ghost February 13th, 2007 19:40

Nice. Plain and simple. Very utilitarian. The light kind of overpowers the size of the gun, But I don't knock it if it works.

One suggestion. Pick up a set of sights for it.

Hedonism Bot February 13th, 2007 19:45

what's the gun doing that makes you say it's not working right?

Heh I forgot to mention that.
Had no sights on it when i received it, and I'm not sure where I can get new ones.

I do agree that the size of the light does not go well with the size of the pistol. But meh.

It will fire, but the slide sticks. It will only return about 2/3 of the way back to where it should be seated. So I have to manually give it a push so it can pick up the BB and allow me to fire again.

These are the luminous type ones, which I personally think are sufficiently badass. Perhaps they have regular type replacement ones on there too

theres many reasons why your gun is behaving like that but:
-try sanding/filing down the friction points at where the slide gets stuck
-relube the gun with silicone oil
-use propane
-but a enhanced recoil spring and guide.

other than that, thats a very nice choice for a starter gun.

Maybe it needs lube or a stronger recoil spring.

vatek February 13th, 2007 20:07

Chances are whoever you bought the gun from did the metal slide upgrade "on the cheap" and used the stock recoil spring/guide rod.

My 18c did the exact same thing when I tried it with the stock spring/rod after a slide install, but I tossed an enhanced one in and now it chatters like a madman on full auto. The only failure to return to battery that I get is from low gas in the mag.

Erik2 February 13th, 2007 20:11

Thanks for the help guys.

I'll be picking up the spring and guide soon. As well I will be making the switch from duster to propane.
Also, thanks for the link to the sights. I'm gonna get me a set soon as well.

This was the first airsoft gun I had in my hands. I own a real G19 and it doesn't give me as many headaches as this does!

Now to buy me a main gun when I get some extra cash in my pocket.

Ilya_7 February 13th, 2007 20:16

just before you put money down on a new spring that may not be necessary spend a little less cash and see if some lube helps... if not then go ahead with fixing the cheaped out upgraded work...

never liked a glock but it's not bad.

The problems yo uare experiencing sound exactly what happens with G&G cheapass slide/outer barrel kits. But, from the pics, your slide looks more like mine, milled out of a solid bar of aluminum stock. G&G are super lightweight pot metal, and have a dull medium grey finish to them, almost feel like fine grade wet/dry sandpaper.

I'd go for the above suggestions, get back to us after and let us know. I've dealt with a LOT of KSC G19s the past year and a bit, had lots of different issues (some super complicated) and have either fixed them or, in the case of G&G outer barrels in my nice slide (filed it here & there, over there, this point here a bit more, always jams up............ but works perfectly in my stock slide backup gun), or G&G slide kits, never really solved them no matter where I filed or lubed. G&G sucks ass for G19 slides, anyone reading this shouldn't even consider one.

BTW, easiest way to tell the type of recoil spring guide is by it's base........... if it has a split pin going through the shaft to hold the ass end on, it's stock, but if it unscrews from the back, it's an enhanced one.

Erik2 February 13th, 2007 21:25

It has the pin going through the base.

I tried the oil, and no dice. I don't want to start filing, as I don't know where I should.

I think I will try the enhanced spring and make the switch to propane. If that doesn't work, I'll pay one of you guys to look at it for me :D

CDN_Stalker February 13th, 2007 23:04

Does your slide finish feel as I described it? Really smooth inside and out, or feels like super fine sandpaper? That'll help sort out what type of upgrade kit it is. I suspect it's the same as mine (I got mine used as well, no idea the make of the slide kit) in which case it makes it easier to diagnose the problem.

Erik2 February 14th, 2007 00:42

The slide feels really smooth both inside and out.

CDN_Stalker February 14th, 2007 09:23

Not a G&G then.

Does the gun return to battery fine without the mag in? Am thinking it's a mag issue (feed lips too stiff or something). I've used the stock recoil spring in my G19 before and it cycles fine, just not as crisp as the enhanced one.
