Tanaka M700 AICS Silencer?

Been looking around... has anyone had any luck with adding a silencer to a Tanaka M700 AICS? I havent taken mine apart yet so I have no idea what needs to be replaced at the end of the barrel.

If the front is just like the M700 non-AICS, then you can go with the King Arms treaded muzzle. I'm using that on the KJW M700.

Nope the Outer barrel of the AICS is not threaded at all !

You need an adapter that will clip on the outer barrel or change the outer barrel !

I was referring to these. This just slide inside the outter barrel on my M700, and the front sight holds it in by the groove.

Won't work with a AICS, the outer barrel is almost close, only 6mm at the end. like the same size as the inner barrel !

but is it possible to remove that part? I havent had a chance to look at it today but I was hoping it could come out and have some sort of adaptor plug in there...

I can't find the AICs manual online, just look at your manual to see if the front tip comes off.

This is the manual that ships with it. It comes with a couple extra pages showing how to take the body, bolt and hopup apart.

at the end of the barrel it does have a plastic "plug" not sure how it stays in place.

I had a Tanaka M40a1, and I was thinking of doing the same thing to it. It's already quiet as a mouse's fart, but it would be cool to silence it more. I never actually researched it, but I know that it is possible on some, and not on others (without modifying the structure of the the barrel).

I found on the web that one guy used an M24 adapter and cut a ring around it to use the stock o-ring to keep it in place

I got the KA adaptor for sale if you want....

Are you sure? The AICS front looks pretty different comparing to the M700 front as the M700 has a front sight that hold the tip of the outter barrel in (Part #1 on the diagram)

If it has a plug in place, look for a small screw somewhere, I'm sure there's a screw of some sort that holds it in place.

Duff October 12th, 2006 16:32

there are no screws. from what I understand is that there is an o ring inside that keeps it all together. I guess there is a groove inside the outer barrel and on the plug.

Ya the manual is not much help.. even the extra added info is not much...

SEALs October 13th, 2006 01:27

yeah but its suppose to be the same barrel soo it should fit.
