From now on, you can throw away those traditional bulky tracer units! Patented design from G&P, a strong blue LED inside the magazine illuminates 130 rounds BB continuously. The activate button is on the magazine top, so it turns on automatically when you load the magazine. Powered by 2 AAA or 3 N batteries (not included). Battery replacement is easy - just unscrew a small screw on the botom of the magazine and you can access the battery compartment. A set of fresh batteries will last a long time since the internal LED is very energy efficient. Fits Marui M16 series. This smart and simple design is effective and brilliant (literally) and has received our RedWolf Innovation award!

Odd really, I keep having a mix of incredibly bad, then incredibly good luck with airsoft. A lot of the good luck seems to come in timing, bearly winning ebay auctions, findout out about a product just before I buy one that is more expensive and I dont want as much, then throw in my bad luck (dead guns, spontaniously breaking parts, leaking canteens/hydration systems) and I come out kinda neutral with airsoft...about to buy a tracer unit for my next purchase (after seeing them at the first night game at Commando Paintball in Ottawa) and then find out about these, then realize it wont be that hard to mod my G3 hicap to have a superbright LED in it...dont use the hicap for anything else anyway and doing it to low/mid caps will be too much work to get em all done by.

meh, i still like the tracer better than these mags,
looks cooler and you wont have to worry about buying a bunch of mags and then a bunch of batteries for them.

still a cool design and very innovative, just not my cup o tea

Is they making any other type mags? G36 perhaps?

True, but it's still a cool alternative than buying the big ol' TM Tracer unit (which costs quite a pretty penny)

Just popped apart a G3 hicap (never seen the inside of a hicap before) and man, is this going to be easy...going to reduce the 500rnd hicap to maybe 350rnds, and going to need to take it apart to replace the battery when it dies (rig a switch on it somewhere so I dont need to do it every game) but so much cheaper than a tracer unit or these new mags (which aernt for a G3 anyway).

I'll post a how to up when its done, take pics as I go, going to The Source tomorrow to get a super bright flashlight for cheap. I'll do an M4/16 mag later for my M733 if it all works, may have to do 2 in that case to still be able to meet the 300rnd max loadout for the night games. Crap, going to need to buy a knife and glue while I'm at it, all my tools and supplies are still in Ottawa.

You may get better results with a UV LED.

Uses less power and charges the tracer rounds faster.

Lunit, I think the point of these (vs a hicap) is you can load tracers in proper sequence (ie 1 in 5 tracer).

These are also great (vs the TM tracer unit) for those who are using a compact rifle (and want to keep it compact) and/or those already using a suppressor to hide a longer inner barrel.

I'm also happy G&P decided to go with standard sized batteries (AAA), makes it comptible with rechargeable NiMHs, which are perfect for powering something like this, and makes the whole thing more affordable to operate in the long run.

http://ledshoppe.com/

for those who wants to order some LEDs or LED Flashlight. Never ordered from them before, but it's pretty popular in another CDN Website (non-airsoft related). General buying experience is very good, about a week to two for delivery.

Hmmmmm.....

I'll do a test run with a normal super bright LED bulb since I happened to find one around the house, just need to go order some tracer BB's.

I've tried to make a similar for my M249 boxmags using UV LEDs, and the results were far from impressive. It looked like the strip of 5 LEDs in a wasn't powerful enough to 'charge' the tracer BBs quick enough as the RoF of the gun was high.

I'll make a trip to the elctronics shop and try super-bright White and Blue to see if it would any better.
