Headgear- Helmets, Hats, and all

What do you use for airsoft? or if you can show your collections?

I use the plastic helmet liner that they sell for ten bucks in U.S. surplus stores for helmet. I've put the helmet under many different guns up to 400 FPS and it with stands the impact well the BBs shatter. Balaclava bought at a dollar store protects my face. Digi Cam broke sorry no pics.

I tend to just waer boonies, and occasionally a borrowed K-Pot. I can't decide if i want to shell out the money for one or not, but in all honest, helmets are overkill unless your dealing with some wierd stuff. (IE developing and testing a tank barrel full of peas on your team mates ;) )

DuffMan November 12th, 2005 18:37

CQB, I sometimes wear balaclavas. Usually, I wear a simple CADPAT skullcap, wrapped over with some cut CADPAT netting so it doesn't look like shit and adds some dimension. Boonies tend to fog up goggles, and hey, the headwrap look is sweet :P

It's a toss up between my helmet, and a boonie hat. All depends on whether or not I want the extra 10 lbs on my head or not.

<shameless plug>Also, though, flexfit hats work really great...

Edit:
I should note: I don't wear the helmet as protection. It's more of for the look. Helmets in an airsoft game really have a low likelyhood of saving your ass, if anything they make it easier to spot you out there. However, it does make it very easy to tell when you are hit in the head, as the distinctive "crack" is quite easy to hear when you're hit. So pretty much wear a helmet if you like the look of it, but if you're wearing it for any sort of protection (other than the low tree branch, etc) it's not going to do much.

Woodland boonie hat. I might pick up a ABS PASGT helmet an throw on a woodland cover later.

Kane November 12th, 2005 19:36

Depends what look I'm going for, as well as the weather on game day, but helmets and boonies are occationally worn in place of my ever-present berets...

Lerch November 12th, 2005 23:55

Let's see, I've got a British issue MkVI kevlar helmet, desert DPM boonie (SF-brim), SCC beret and shemagh.

I only use the MkVI when it's either cold and the boonie is usually just for the summer.

The question i'd like to ask is where do you get any replica PASGT helmet that'll fit an XXXL head? (Or boonies or other headwear for that matter, I know retailers routinely stock XL as the largest size possible, but I've got a huge noggin' and I need bigger)

Greylocks November 13th, 2005 08:41

Boonie hat, or head scarf.

CDN_Stalker November 13th, 2005 08:54

Cadpat boonie or cadpat material bandana tied to my head. Depends on teh weather and my mood I suppose. My Bolle's don't fog up much from the boonie, but I DO have the problem of sweat building up on the top edge of the goggles and leaking down the inside of the vsor, creating the same type of problem, but harder to get rid of. Flip the front of the boonie up 'sniper style' and fog goes away fast. Sweat......... ugh! Wearing the bandana low so it covers my eyebrows, then putting the top edge of my goggles on that prevents sweat from getting on the goggles. When I wear my boonie I might just have to go for a Rambo headand to do the same thing.

I'm pretty old school, if that shows. ;)

Ok, once in while I'll wear a ballcap as well.

I use a Boonie or a skull cap. Also use an ESS turbo fan googles

vondnik November 13th, 2005 11:41

german issued patrol cap or the clubs baseball caps.

Freedom Fighter November 13th, 2005 11:52

I've wore whatever went with the gear I had at the time. Boonie, bandana, balaclava, PASGT replica and now for the next season I'll be wearing a PROTEC repro. Whatever you like at the moment, go with.

Where did you manage to get a shemagh?
