Back To School Backpack
I'm headed back, Haven't owned a backpack in a long time.
I might as well get a pack that will last, and 1000D is the way to go. ATM I have my eyes on a MAXPEDITION Falcon-II, but I'm not sure it'll hold more than one binder. Any recommendations? |
I always liked TAD but at $250-300 for a backpack it's a little steep for me (especially only being a student). But that said the quality on them are amazing, I just wish I had the money to buy one.
Although my current swissgear backpack has held up for me since high school and it's been a good 7 years with that and also doubles as a daypack for me so it's been in some pretty crazy conditions like medium intensity dayhikes and freezing cold of Manning park and to and from school and work. |
I'm currently using a voodoo level 3 assault pack
I picked it up from shrike great bag and very good price http://shrikeairsoft.com/upgrade-par...product_id=249 |
I'm looking for something to hold 2 binders and a book or two, plus other little pockets.
Ideally it would have webbing on it and be millitary looking. Multiple pockets and some comfy straps. I like the Navy blue/FG or Emergency Red. I'm looking for a bigger assault pack(12"W), but it seems the next size up for most manufacturers are rucks(14"W and like 2X the depth I need). The voodoo lvl3 is a step in the right direction, but not quite wide enough. |
What Skeletor said. If you don't want a military style bag, North Face or MEC are good bags. I have the Recon model from North Face, been using it for 4+ years. It's been through rain, snow, dirt, mud, bbq sauce. Best purchase ever.
uh edit - guess you are looking for a military style bag but do take a look at other bags, they might spark your interest. |
I've been rocking a condor sling pack for a few years and love it. Holds quite a bit, lot's of organizational pockets and can take a beating. Took it to Europe and throughout Iceland a few times and it still is in really good condition.

My first Swiss Gear lasted about 4 years. I was quite pleased with it, so I got another one, which failed on me within 2 months.
I'd personally go with something at MEC or other.... just not an ultralight variant. I do like tacticool stuff, but at school.... a bit less. They're not really designed to hold pencils, some papers, binders, etc... Except maybe some of the smaller Kelty ones with their admin pockets, might be a good choice. |

if you for MEC, id recommend the deutur futura 30 or fox 30. great pack. if you want a real sweet ride, get a TAD fast pack litespeed. i own one and love it.

Thanks all for the responses, and response times :D
The closest thing so far is the TAD fast pack litespeed. Only prob is price... I think almost every one of the elite gear whores has posted a response. I'm amazed and thankfull ;D |
Those I was talking about:
Smaller: http://www.amronintl.com/kelty-pereg...-backpack.html Medium: http://www.amronintl.com/kelty-map-3...ault-pack.html But the TAD is indeed awesome, it's just a bit costly. |
if you have access to oakleyforces, they're having a sale right now on the panel pack.

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=142662 Also airsoft park has a much cheaper knockoff Personally you might consider not being overtly tactical in public. All these protests, pepper spraying campus police. A bag of evil may bring you unwanted attention should things go south. Grey man ftw. In such case, north face, mec and deuter are great. I've also used a Swiss army or Swiss gear whatever laptop backpack for years and it is holding up well. All my heavier duty mec packs are also amazing. |
