Getting into the WW2 thing.
 

Well, I'm within $200 dollars and a few weeks until I am completely finished my modern warfighter style loadout (and I am damned pleased with it, dont get me wrong)

So why am I posting here? Well lets be frank another week or two and I'm done with my modern loadout, so I'm really hoping to get back to my original love the second world war. But first things first, I got to pick a side, then we can discuss from there. What side should I pick? AXIS or ALLIED. Personally I don't care if gear is hard to find, I'm in no huge rush, I'd rather take my time and get the gear I want. But really which side could use reinforcements?

I am where you are too... But I prefer Allied weapons, and I am a Canadian patriot looking to expand to WW2 living history soooo...

Now to find the sources for a Canadian or "Devil's Brigade" loadout.

I have a Sten and an M1A1 Thompson.

WW2 guys please chime in and help us out.

Well for me its I cannot pick. Personally I love weapons for both sides, and can go either way no complaints I'm mostly looking for info on each side,and if one side needs new players more than the other.

The Ontario WWII Reenactors site has the FSSF (1st Special Service Force) listed as a "unit" (this is the Devil's Brigade, half US, half Canadian... a predecessor to both US Special Forces and JTF2).

I would be interested in seeing what would be involved to progress development in this unit and who might be interested.

I have an ok FSSF impression and a few others.

I am on a short hiatus from airsoft at the moment but I am 100% positve that Leecas and others will post over the next few days.

There are at least 2 of us that can do FSSF, maybe more. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Either side can always do with more people. Of course I am biased and will tell you go Germans... But again, biased here ;)
(Our uniforms do look much sharper though! Heh)

I'd like an airsoft vacation / time warp to Italy or Southern France.

If we have to stay in NW Europe, do British SAS. We can ride our bicycles behind German lines because our jeep broke down.

Hmmm I have '95 DPM smock and Canadian wind pants as well as a Sten...

Am I qualified?

For level 2 events, that would do just fine actually!

1 thing I don't require is a history lesson, I was originally a WW2 enthusiast, its just the ease of modern gear and that most games are modern based that made that a first choice and WW2 a second.

For SAS? That'd be ok for most games other than a level 1 event I believe. I doubt anyone would protest.

I finished my British SAS NW Europe kit early this year. Haven't gamed it yet though. I "heavily borrowed" the look from "Gadge". A very knowledgable guy on ww2 airsoft forums.

I have a modern load out that I've spent a lot of money on but now find myself wanting to run my WW2 gear more often than not. When I do run it I find I get more enjoyment out of the game for some reason.

I asked about this unit specifically because I have an interest. If you know about it then good on you. There are lots of people who don't... including arrogant Americans. I don't want to have an internet battle about what you know and what I know.

FSSF is pretty easy to do for lets say Anzio. 1937 wool shirt and pants or M43s with the non reinforced pants. Paratrooper boots. M1 helmet. Rifleman web gear. Throw in an M2 or M1C helmet if you want. US Mountain trousers are good too. Nice and baggy, great for carrying extra thompson mags.

FSSF is in its infancy with OAWWIIR. Most of the Allied guys are 101st or 6th Airborne (Brit / Cdn).

This is what I have done. My kits aren't too farby....I think.

So PanzierGrenadier loadout for I was thinking mid 1944.

I was going to use my Magnum boots, I know not accurate but they are oh so comfy and I love them, maybe I'll break in an accurate pair later.

German 'rain drop' pants?

I'm still lost on the shirt, I hear flectarn is good but they don't look the same.

And the y-harness, and all the other goodies for pouches. Also a 1942 pattern helmet correct?
