how to remove spray paint from your gun?

i spray painted my ACM sniper rifle and ive change my mind + i kinda screwed up a little so is there any product that i can buy from canadian tire that can help me remove it back to the orginal wood?

sand paper?

Gato November 6th, 2011 20:29

Dude, you're a little out of luck with wood, from my experience. Your best bet is to sand the bitch down and stain the wood, you'll probably lose that grain look. This only applies if your gun is even real wood, which I have to question.

I'd try a time machine and elephant tranquilizers. Other than that, all I can think of is a new body for your gun or get used to it in its new colour.

The nice thing about painting something... if you don't like the paint job, you can paint over it to get what you want...

If it's plastic fake wood, you could try lighter fluid (Ronsonol). l I've used it with in the past, but it won't work removing lacquer paint.

If we could see a picture of the paint job then we could probably offer better advice.

Theirs a couple threads on here about painting guns. What type of paint did you use? The Krylon paint is the best. You shouldnt have painted it and then put the wet side down on the newspaper. You should always let one side dry fully before moving onto the next section. As for how it is now, your best bet would probably be some fine grit sandpaper and sand it down and try again. Their are people here who are extremley good at painting and they can probably give you better advice.

Yes, Follow steps:

1. Dont paint your gun gold. Im sorry but by painting it gold something was just asking to go wrong.
2. Resarch into painting guns. See search bar at top of page near right hand side.
3. Using a fine grit sand paper lighty sand off the clumps or places it stuck to the newspaper.
4. When painting wait till the paint is DRY before putting it down on ANYTHING.

Hope this helps.

Painting in the dark? Seriously? You didn't want it to end well, did you.

I think you should leave it, as a reminder to be smarter in the future.
