Surviving The Cut - Discovery Channel

Not sure if this is being aired in Canada yet, but I've been catching "Surviving The Cut" over here on Discovery. Basically its a series that follows about 7 or so of the U.S. military's top training courses. So far, they followed:
-Para Rescue Jumper
-Navy E.O.D.
-Marine Force Recon
-Marine Scout Sniper
-SF Combat Diver
-Ranger school

and there a few more as well I think. Great series, gives one a better sense of what its like just getting to the start line.
Enjoy

Whenever I see a re-run of the Marine Scout Sniper episode, I cancel whatever I was doing or was going to do and watch it in full...

Can't wait for season 2.

LOL! That episode was on last night! But one of my favourite things about it all is that you see just how massive the US military is! I mean "Air Force" Combat Diver?! WTF? LOL! I mean, Im sure their good at what they do, but you know you've got way too much money and resources on your hands when you develop a Air Force Combat Divers program ; )

Actually a few years back, I was chatting with one of the Marines posted to the US Embassy in New Delhi, India and was genuinely surprised to find out that the branches in the US Military are more or less designed to be completely self sufficient. According to this guy, the Marines call on "Marine" Air Support and the Army calls on "Army" Air support....Navy, same thing. I think he even said he'd rather do without than call the Air Force for help,
I was also chatting with another guy here in Italy at the US EMB that is Air Force, but is part of their investigative service.... think NCIS but Air Force.... It gets confusing after while.

NIIIIICE!!!

They need to do a segment of both SEAL and Green Berets, just to make the package complete... :)

if you want green berets, then I think it was called "two weeks of hell"

Yep.... Hash Browns FTW!

Another one you lads might want to check out is called 'Search for a warrior' NZ SAS.

That would cool to see.

The only US Army air support is from their helos, for everything else they have the USAF and so on.

Jbone, the Combat Diver course is for their USAF SOF pers, yes they could go to another Combat Diver course ran by another branch, but they decided to have their own internal one. Might make it more simple to get guys loaded onto the course and at a certain time for the Pipeline training for CCT, PJ, etc

For sure... this was back in 2005-ish, and this guy was pretty young. I don't believe he served in Afghanistan, but I do think he had been to Iraq IIRC.

Guess I stand corrected on that one:cool:
