What kind of sniper scope should i out on there for magnification? i believe i have a 3-9-42green and red alluminating crosshairs sniper scope. but it doesent really magnify that far. and i dont know... am i doing something wrong? but ahh. i was wondering if there was something better out there. hopfully i get some suggestions. thanks!!!

You don't need anything more than about 3x or 4x magnification for airsoft.

Before the above suit becomes necessary, allow me to help you to answer your own questions since you appear to be at least reasonably intelligent.

1. First and foremost remember this is airsoft.
2. Think of what the maximum range you can shoot that gun.
3. Go to a range, or make one yourself and find out what your max range is.
4. If you can't accurately see that far, put a scope on that allows you to.

I know it sounds weird, but its really that easy and simple. Airsoft guns do not need 6x and 9x scopes. People put them on their guns for one of (and usually both) two reasons.
1. Cool factor.
2. To spot targets even though they are out of range to setup strategies to get into range.

Good luck.

3x - 4x is all you need ... its what i use and its plenty

You have the right magnification, just not the right brand.

Go to a hunting shop.
Buy a real scope, made for real rifles. Anything between 75$ and 150$ is good usually.
Forget about illumination for a scope. If you need it, your target is too close to use the scope anyways. Originally, theses where for night vision scopes to see the reticule, not for naked eye use. Chinese clones took the "cool" factor.

My favorite scope by far is a Bushnell Dawn and Dusk 3-9x40mm 100$ on sale at Canadian Tire when I got it.

thanks.

Thanks every one. i geuss your right. its just airsoft.I know i sounded nooby asking that question. but hey. like i said. im new to the sniper rifle biusness and every one has to start somewhere. The scope is a N-star scope. Oh! by the way. this is also my first ever gas gun. so after i bought it i was wondering about the barrel. im reading up on the gun and it says the barrel length is 370mm long... it that long enough? or should i buy a bigger one to get more affect from my gas? or could a silencer do the same job as a longer barrel would? thanks again for the help!

If you havn't already purchase it, I highly suggest you DO NOT purchase a NC-Star scope. The brand is shit and it will fall arpart on you. Hell NC-Star can't take the abuse an aeg dishes out, there is no way it will survive blow back action. Another relatively low cost brand is Tasco. Tasco is the lower end models of Bushnell. Bushnell is known for quality optics and it should suit you fine.

What do you guys think is better for a Flip To Side magnifier 3X or 4X? should I pay $15 more for the the 4X magnifier? It's going on a automatic AEG, NOT for sniping. I was thinking of using it for observation.

NC-Star stuff is made for real steel use though.
Not saying they're good or bad because I don't have any experience with the brand, but wouldn't they be made better if they supposed to stand up to real recoil?

Kos-Mos June 24th, 2011 09:17

NC-Star scopes are cloned to hell by chinese companies... anything under 200$ is not a genuine one... and they don't make illuminated scopes.

CDN_Stalker June 24th, 2011 09:25

Mine is almost always set at 5x zoom, but I adjust as the situation requires.

Remember, not everything needs a scope in airsoft.

Well I can say from experiance that NC star optics don't stand up to recoil from paintabll markers. They don't hold their zero are very fragile.

Regardless of what they are maild for they are made of fail.
