A&k svd

I am seriously considering this gun as my next purchase and was wondering what you guys think of it in terms of reliability, stock performance and durability.

I know about the sear, but I haven't found anything specific as to how long it takes to wear down.

I will most likely be using .3 g or more in the gun. Probably won't be getting a scope, or at least not for a while.

I was looking at the A&K SVD and I've heard good reviews but it's a very long springer to be running through the bush. The cocking spring is very strong as well and if your shorter person I heard it can be a bit cumbersome.

It's a nice looking piece and the price is right.

Its a very nice gun. Mine is plastic, but it stills feels very solid.
Cocking spring is very hard. With stock spring unless you have gloves after 10 rounds your fingers will hurt.
Sadly I never played outdoors with it yet, but I will bring it out on Saturday to Udora game and give it a go. So, more comments to follow.

I just picked one up. I love it. It's very solid, nice feel. It's upgraded to a blue spring, and fires great. I haven't even sighted it in yet, so I can't comment too much. I'll keep ya posted. It's worth the price, just my 2 cents.

How did you find the spring for pulling? Any barrel wobble?

R.I.T.Z April 28th, 2011 23:36

Nice solid gun
cocking it is a pain in the arse as it is an SVD and was made to be semi auto and not a bolt action. that said it is my only gripe.

Plinked one of these at my Buddies yesterday, as R.I.T.Z said only gripe is cocking it, feels shockingly solid overall rather impressive, especially considering the price

Heard good and bad, suppose that comes with most clones. Waiting patiently for one in the mail anyways.

mmmmm, Real Sword SVD...

Eclipse1 April 29th, 2011 22:56

Isn't the real sword SVD an AEG that only shoots on semi? I remember watching something on RW airsoft about that.

In any case, I already have an 2 AEGs, and I would like a gun that does not need charging in order to shoot, ie a springer. This SVD looks promising, and I don't have the cash for a RealSword. My only problem, after doing some research, is the plastic high cap and the trigger sear, and both are easily fixed.

Your opinions also seem promising, so I think its a done deal for me. Just gotta wait t'ill it comes back in stock. What BB mass do you guys find gives the best performance?

Is anyone selling the PSO-1 scope? I am expecting to get an A&K SVD soon and I would like to buy a scope for it as well, on torontoairsoft that scope is over $100.

All Airsoft versions of the SVD scope I have encountered are NON-Adjustable. Take a good look, and inform yourself before you buy one. I don't remember the name of the place, but in Ottawa you can purchase a real SVD scope for $180-$250. It's worth the extra $20-$100. If you google optics stores in Ottawa you'll find it. I have the AK (Airsoft) SVD scope and it does not adjust. It's not broken either, there are threads about them on the site.
