Replica Magpul products
 

Hey guys, I was just wondering your opinions were about replica magpul products. I've been eye balling flashy magpul grips, moe handguards, and even considering an acs stock and am just not sure about it.
Any anecdotal or hearsay would be greatly appreciated.

Considering they are very closely priced to the real deal, what is the point? Aside from airsoft proprietary designs for aegs...

The quality of the real stuff is awesome, the PTS is pretty good, but more evident mold lines, and some small features missing compared to the real counterpart. EG PTS CTR/CTS stock does not have the quick detach swivel point....

The real stuff is suprisingly durable. I've heard the PTS is a different plastic compound though, and may not live up to the same tough standard.

Depending on what and where you are ordering from, real Magpul may also be ITAR restricted.

True. But the ever so simple solution to this is just to get it from within Canada which is no problem at all since there are more than a couple dealers of genuine magpul products.

None of the Magpul PTS items are ITAR restricted.

Plus I've yet to find an ITAR restricted item I couldn't get my hands on with relative ease.

REPTON Corp. Suggests 'real' refers to non PTS magpul product used on firearms. REPTON Corp. Also suggests using a Canadian dealer for magpul products such as Wolverine Tactical or DS Tactical.

I only buy RS Magpul. I had a PTS Afg-1 and the screws started rusting and stripping. I said fuck that and got a RS AFG-2. Got sick of the AFG-2 and got a RVG and am finally happy. I also have there MS2 and RSA. Fantastic products though the RSA is already starting to loose paint around the connection points.

The plastics are very different, and there is no glass in the PTS stuff. I have, however, run my CZ red hot with a PTS AFG on my front end and it didn't melt or smoke much at all.
