Importing an Entire Slide

Hi there fellow airsofters. I know metal slides are OK to import, but what about an entire complete slide? Metal slide, metal barrel, inner barrel, piston, sights, and markings?

Anyone had experience with this?

Lakonian September 7th, 2007 12:38

Probably just get seized. I don't think a customs officer would treat it any differently.

Styrak September 7th, 2007 12:54

But why is it OK to import slides then?

It's not :p

AFAIK slides, frames, receivers, and mags w/ fake rounds are all on the watch list.

I'm not 100% sure, but this is to the best of my understanding.

From http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/factsheets/imports_e.asp

Quote:

Importing Firearm Parts and Ammunition
You cannot import prohibited ammunition or firearm parts that are classified as prohibited devices, including handgun barrels that are 105 mm or less in length or parts made exclusively for a fully automatic firearm.

You do not need a valid firearms licence under Canadian law to import non-prohibited firearm parts (except for a frame/receiver). However, as indicated below, you may need an export permit from the other country.

The Explosives Act sets limits on the amount of ammunition and ammunition components that may be imported without an import permit. Generally, the Explosives Act allows you to import up to 5,000 cartridges of non-prohibited ammunition for your personal use without an import permit.

For more information, please refer to the web site of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) or call the Explosives Regulatory Division of NRCan at (613) 995-8415. As indicated below, an import permit may be required for smaller amounts in order to comply with the laws of the exporting country.

Styrak September 7th, 2007 13:52

That was actually useful Frozencricket.
Since the slide I want has a barrel length of 114mm, I should be OK.

Frozencricket September 7th, 2007 13:54

The best way to confirm is to contact the Border Information Service and ask.

Regan.S September 7th, 2007 18:22

I highly doubt you'll be able to import something like that.

Tex September 7th, 2007 18:50

I recieved mine (slide and outer barrel) it was clearly marked on the customs forms what it was, it was opened at customs held for around 5 days then sent on to me.

You're new to the forums, I've seen your other posts, and slides CAN be imported. Did you actually have anything to add to this thread? Or any evidence?

Greylocks September 7th, 2007 19:02

Receivers are the critical part, those get seized/destroyed. Slides, even with a barrel inside, should not be an issue since you can import the real thing...

Just keep it >105mm right?

Agreed. I ordered a Shooters Design metal slide and outer barrel from Redwolf and received it without any problem.

http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=22107

G 17 and Glock 17 Black on the packaging as well as 7075 High Quality Aluminum. I ordered it June 2 and signed for it June 12

dontask September 7th, 2007 19:20

how's the customs fee on slides? are they outrageous :D ?

littlerobz September 7th, 2007 19:25

I don't know the laws good enough to say what's legal/illegal. If your concerned, contact Jugglez at Airsoftparts.ca. He brought me in a metal body/slide/barrel for my P226 without problem. And he is an amazingly quick reply to e-mails etc.

I was about to say that. Would be nice if he actualy reads the posts, and get his information right.

AFAIK slides are ok. My buddy ordered his from UNC and it came in. Package WAS open and held by customs for a couple days but he still received everything. That was 8-10 months ago.

I know the outer barrel can be tricky. Best you can do is check the approve size (+105mm i think?) and make sure the content is clearly describe in a letter in the package. Or else customs *might* not even bother to check the size and just hold it. Better safe than sorry i say.

CDN_Stalker September 7th, 2007 20:11

This is a good thread for me since I plan to at some point buy a KSC MK23 metal slide kit and had been wondering how I could get it in safely.

Jimski September 21st, 2009 22:58

any updatez on that?
I'd like to import a slide for a glock 26, the barrel is less than 90mm...

safx September 21st, 2009 23:42

Fuck, how do you import a
partial slide? lol.

Well if you kiddies haven't
been paying attention, even
a real steel slide isn't the
restricted part you have to
worry about.

PS: anyone looking for a
partial slide I promise to
only give you the tip!

Bissa September 22nd, 2009 00:12

I was reading styraks post about regan being new to the site and was thinking WTF he has been here for like 3 years, then when jimski asked how it went I checked the post date and it made alot more sense.

Ronan September 22nd, 2009 00:50

This brings back memories...

Styrak September 22nd, 2009 01:03

Dear lord...
Brought one of my first threads back to life.

Jimski September 22nd, 2009 08:09

yeah thanks for commenting on that but I was expecting something like new info...

I've been hearing yes and noes, comments about the barrel length, and random comments from people who don't really know.
So it's not really clear as of now.
I'd be quite pleased if somoeone who knows what he's talking about could post some info here, rather than the usual asc chit-chat.

didn't you ask this in another thread? i thought i told you, or someone, that you will have to get a retailer to import it for you cause it doesn't meet the min-barrel length requirements. if customs gets it, and opens it, they WILL seize it.

Its like ordering airsoft. Ya, it may get it, but it might not. Why wont it get it? cause its prohibited. The slide you want is for a prohibited gun. They will assume its for the real deal. Thus, its illegal. Get a retailer to import it for you.

I have seen no one confirming this, are you absolutely 100% positive about that?

Slides:

You will not have a problem importing a slide. A slide of a real firearm, let alone an airsoft gun, is not in itself a prohibited or restricted part and does NOT require any kind of permits to import. This is spelled out in the D-memorandum D19-13-2, which is one of dozens of regulation sources which the CBSA Officers reference regularly.

Even if confused with slide for a real pistol, it is not illegal to import a slide into Canada if properly declared.

Receivers:

The D-Memo D19-13-2 (http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publicati...9-13-2-eng.pdf) defines a firearm as:

"a barrelled weapon from which any shot, bullet, or other projectile can be discharged and that is capable of causing serious bodily injury or death to a person, and includes any frame or receiver of such a barrelled weapon and anything that can be adapted for use as a firearm." (Page 5, right hand side).

This is where all the trouble comes from for importing receivers.

==================

Just a word on the CBSA D-Memoranda. The D-Memos compile information from numerous Acts of Parliament into a single document that puts it all into the "import/export" context.[/b] The D-Memo referenced above, for example, presents info out of the Criminal Code, the Firearms Act, as well as the Export and Import Permits Act, while D-Memos pertaining to import/export of agricultural products may reference acts such as The Health of Plants and Animals Act.

=================

Back to Airsoft parts and accessories, though! The Customs Tariff 9898.00.00 is also used to help with the determination of "prohibited devices". Feel free to read through it here on page 1757 of the PDF document to find out what's prohibited for import and what's not http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-com...-01-99-eng.pdf.
Quote:

Only slides that MAY be an issue are slides for automatic guns (as the real auto ones are prohibited)

Only things you are 100% not allowed are receivers(section with the serial number on real one), pistol frames (lower part) and barrels below a certain length (though very few are shorter than this)

Silencers, mags with fake bullets and all those other things people say are illegal to import are in fact legal... you just have to dispute it when cbsa seizes it and eventually get it a few months (or years) down the road.

I actually have not come across any information that'll truly help you out, The barrel for the G26 is prohibited. Too small. However I have no idea where that leaves the slide. It MAY be Ok but depending on how much it'll cost, I'd say, to be safe, order it through a retailer.

Jimski September 22nd, 2009 09:53

ok thank you people!

Crunchmeister September 22nd, 2009 09:59

I ordered my P226's slide / barrel set from cobra airsoft. Got inspected by customs. Made it to me without an issue.

safx September 22nd, 2009 11:17

I think I'm at about 3 dozen
slides imported now... and a
few complete ones.

I've brought in compact 3.9
slides and tiny 3.9 barrels.

Customs has never stopped
anything I've ever imported
other than a receiver or a
pistol frame. And most of my
stuff gets looked at on a reg
basis.

IMO, CSBA couldn't care less
about our toy parts, other than
than the receivers/frames.
