madbull ultimate heavy 0.43g sniper bbs
What the heck are these things made of? When you cut them in half it almst looks like there is some metalized powder mixed in with the plastic.. they are definitely heavier, but are they harder? They feel almost gummy and I can not for the life of me get these things to feed properly in my GHK AKM... the feeder gets jammed every couple of shots. The madbull 0.36s work fine however, have a much nicer polish and seem to be harder..
Anyone else having a similar issue with these bbs? What is the general opinion on them? |
They are probably using metal to get the weight. As you increase in weight sometimes you get a slight increase in overall diameter which would cause jams.
|
Yeah I checked about a dozen of them with a digital caliper and they were all pretty close to 5.95 as I thought that could be an issue.
|
IS it jamming because of the increased hop up pressure needed to lift them? I guess i'm asking if they still jam with the hop turned down.
|
No its jamming in the mag before it gets to the feeder lips... is there anyway to post an inline pic? Sorry Im new here!
|
Found the option but Ill have to wait till I get home to resize the pic, cant do it on my phone apparently

Ill give that a shot (haha) when I get home.. but generally I would think you wouldnt want a lot of oil on the bbs going through the barrel because it will affect the spin... like a knuckle ball or 'spit ball' no? Ever rub vaseline on a baseball and try to throw it straight?
|
Ive never had any issue with the .43's from madbull. 5.95 is a good size. Some bbs are 5.98 +/- .01mm.
id say its the mag spring or perhape a bad batch of bbs. I will inspect when i get home to see if they are softer than .40 and .36's. as for the metal id say its likely graphite. That is what the str8 .36's were coated in and they are about the same color |
Ah yeah graphite makes sense.. thats sort of what it looks like... would def. Make them softer as well.
|
I really doubt it's graphite, it's way too light of a material to be doping BBs with. A BB made of pure graphite would only be .23g.
It's more likely to be lead or zinc. The softness is going to be a byproduct of the BINDER used, the plastic. What makes it fall apart or break easily is the filler between the bonding material, the metal powder. |
Lol @ doping bbs :-D
|
Odd that you GHK mag would jam. MY PTW mags feed and shoot the .43 madbulls great.
Try loading 1-5 BB at a time into the mag and see if it's a issue with spring tension. |
All GHK guns I worked with I had to file the feed lips a bit.
You should try filing them a tiny bit. |
The problem is yours mags are not strong enough to lift the 0.43g bb's. Also hop up can cause a problem if it can't lift that weight.
Non bio fields nothing feeds better or shoots further and straighter than a ptw with strong spring mags and Madbull 0.43g bbs. Also work great in my ASR bolt action shooting 490fps with 0.2 |
Yeah you will want 500fps or more for .43 and a shitload of hop up
(r hop, flat hop or some other mod, a normal hop wont cut it above .32 or .36. Even less for most guns ive owned) also the .43 did crush easily. The .40 did not. Both are high quality i run them in my vsr10, 500fps on .20 and a bridge hop built into the laylax hop chamber and mags thatll shoot bb's 20-30 feet if you depress the retainer. |

I thought it may be the spring as well, but even on a brand new mag it does this.... anyway, heres the pic.. I wanted to know what was happening inside the mag so I cut a piece of clear acrylic, used a heat gun to bend it and elastic bands to fasten it to the mag so I could see the BBs without them flying out at my face. The bbs will advance fine for a few then it gets stuck and I have to smack it with a rubber mallet to get the next one to advance. Its not the feed lips because its not even making it to them, although I have modified them already and the mag cycles smoothly on other types of bbs... It looks like it has something to do with the shape of the feeder ramp (being symmetrical) trying to push two rows of BBs... why this happens only with the 0.43s and not the 0.36s leads me to believe it has something to do with material, unless theres something else I can't see.
|
I see your problem, a really shitty follower design.
|
yeah.. :/ any suggestions? what if I made the follower asymmetrical like on my KWC mags?
|
modify the follower I guess
|
Likely zinc is used for weight.
|
Could be iron as filler too. The we branded heavy bbs are magnetic due to iron content

Are you sure it's iron? Doesn't need to be ferrous to be magnetic
|
I think so, but I am going by forum chatter. I think there was a thread here about the filler in the dark color madbull heavy weights. I've got some 0.40's, maybe I crush a few and see if I can get rusty water in a shot glass with them...?
|
Oxygen causes rust, not water.
The fastest way to get iron to rust is actually to degrease it! |
