Is it possible to use an AEG barrel and furniture on a GBBR?

Hello

I currently have a WE G39C (G36C) which is a GBBR. I want to convert it to a WE G39 K/E (essentially a full sized version). At the same time I wouldn't mind owning a G36C AEG.

So basically since I already own a WE G39C I'm curious to know if I can buy an Ares G36V and mix and match the barrel and furniture. So I end up with a G36C AEG and a full sized G36 GBBR.

Thanks

No, the cut on the hop up end is different.

Is it possible to just buy the proper sized barrels for both guns?

You will need to buy two seperate ones.

AEG Barrels are for AEG's Only.

GBBR Barrels are for GBBR's Only.

Yeah you can buy the barrels separately. They just won't be interchangeable.

So to confirm all the information.

I could take a WE G39 GBBR and UMAREX G36V AEG. Mix and match the furniture so that I have a G36C AEG and a full sized G36 GBBR

Although, I need to buy a G36C AEG barrel and a full sized G36 GBBR barrel.

Then I will have a fully functioning G36C AEG and full sized G36 GBBR.

Stock, upper rail and handguard are compatible. I am not sure if the outter barrel assembly is the same as I've never owned a G36 GBBR.

K3vX January 30th, 2014 14:34

It won't work, the whole barrel assembly is different. I'm sorry but you'll have to do the WE G39 conversion on it's own. And you'll have to buy a proper G36C AEG.

The G39 uses a design close to real steel. You can see the barrel nut, the gas tube and gas block. The barrel is a piece on it's own.

The AEG uses a whole barrel assembly with fixations that screw into the body.

@OP have you considered just buying another WE G39? You could just simply share mags and not bother going the AEG route.

pestobanana January 30th, 2014 14:57

You could convert your G36C into something longer by purchasing a longer handguard and using a simple outer barrel extension. My CA36 outer barrel is just a G36C outer barrel with a full length barrel extension.

Also the length of the stock is different between C and K/E

@BioRage

Yes I considered just getting a full sized WE G39.

Although, I'll probably make more use of a full sized G36 GBBR with the rail optic and adjustable stock. The full sized G36 design feels like its on the borderline of semi-auto sniper and assault rifle. I'm thinking in an outdoor game, a full sized G36 can be really good at engaging at a distance. Then at mid to close range an MP5 AEG or M4A1 GBBR would be better. So if I have a G36C GBBR lying around I might not make much use of it.

If that is the case, take banana's advice and just upgrade the handguard/barrel length. Or use a silencer to cover a longer inner barrel.

Unless you plan on playing a lot of CQB as opposed to outdoor games, then it seems your mind is set on the "K" Variant. No point to sell your current C and buy a brand new K, you would lose out on money.

Good thing about the WE Stang M4 Magazines are you can use them in the M4/Scar/MSK/L85 platforms too.

All about sharing mags, gas mags are to expensive.

I see, so I can just look for a barrel extension and longer hand grip that goes around the barrel. Also, I'm looking for a longer stock. The original stock on the We G39C seems too short for me.

In short, I think the full sized G36 is good for outdoor. Then for CQB I'm aiming for an MP5 or M4A1.

I have some G36 hardware for sale that you may be interested in. I can't link you because I'm on my phone.

People, stop talking non-sense.

The newer ARES G36s/Umarex G36s use a large barrel nut very similar to the real steal.

That would probably make them compatible with a WE G36.
I have not tried however.

But you can get a regular AEG G36E conversion kit and install it on your WE G36c. The "TM standard" G36s were G36c with a barrel extension screwed in place of the stock flash hider. Using a kit made for this on the tip of your WE G36c would work the same.
The only difference you would get from a genuine WE G36 is that the fake gas block is further forward on the carbine and rifle versions (G36 and G36K). And that can be remedied with a longer pin to install the gas block further down the barrel extension.

That said, unless the outerbarrels from the NEWER ARES G36s fit the WE G36c, you will have to source an "old school" extension kit. G&P used to make a very nice one. STAR/ARES had one pre-UMAREX, now they are quite hard to find.

ThunderCactus January 30th, 2014 16:23

....but then you'd have an ARES

BioRage January 30th, 2014 16:30

Easier for him to just extend his current one, and buy a new GBBR :D
