CPGear CF-Issue Tac-vest mod (Mpak and Triple-Mag Shingle)

Hey guys,
Thought I'd share this. It works with CF Immitation "Repro-vests" as well.

This is the "Remastered" Public Version:
YouTube- CPGear CF Issue Tac-Vest Mod (M-Pak and Triple Mag Shingle)

Bowers July 8th, 2010 22:36

i dunno i think the same capability could have been done with a WIMP a center adaptor and a single mag shingle you still get the 3 magazines carried in open top shingles but i dont think it would be as chunky

though by using the center adaptor you would probably have to find a new spot to position your knife

other then that i thought the video was well put together bravo Labo

also have you tried to draw mags from the two inner magazine pouches on the vest? it looks like the straps might get in the way

Kokanee July 8th, 2010 22:49

Not a bad video, but I could have done without the musical montage.

*On second though, it's your vid, you have your own way and style that's cool. Your talking points were good and the narrative flowed well.

FOX_111 July 8th, 2010 23:50

I like it. Well done.
The overall montage make it enjoyable to watch. Maybe a little bit too much of "playing around" with the shots. The naration was serious and not pompus. I liked it.

As for the gear, for a soldier not wanting to change his whole setup, that look like a good idea. I wonder how stable the rig is.

And about the knife, I hear no one wear their knife like that on their vest anyway.

The last time I wore mine on the chest was for my DP1...

Snake Eyes July 9th, 2010 00:15

the knife is still on the vest. You can still get to it easily.

Awesome video, CPGear should be paying you commission!

horto July 9th, 2010 10:14

fantastic video dude. well done!

Labo July 9th, 2010 16:50

Thanks for all the positive comments, guys.. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.. especially from you CF members.

Assault Pioneer July 9th, 2010 17:04

great video but watch the balance between the music and narrator audio, the music was a bit too high and the narator a bit too low, make the narrator read louder and with a bit more pronunciation.

other than that all good

Labo July 9th, 2010 17:21

Ahhh.. i knew that.. That's what was bugging me the other night. I could hear it. But, everyone else said it sounded ok. Should have gone with my gut feeling. On the next run, i guess.

Thanks Assault.

PS.. next review is on the CPGear M.O.F.O.C.R.
This makes me nervous.

Bowers July 9th, 2010 17:37

looking forward to it.

Labo, looking forward to the MoFOCR review, on the fence now about whether to pick one up for the desert.

I've got one in Cadpat AR... The Commander Kit. I've shown it around to some guys and got a lot of good feedback. What makes this rig so unique is the implementation of the Snap Dragon Buckles. I recently got a British Issue Tac-vest and I noticed they use a very similar, pull-release system on their mag-pouches. Instead of having to pinch the clip, like on our tac-vest... On the British vest, there is a locking tab which blocks a plastic sliding buckle, and can easily be released by giving it a firm jerk.

The Snap Dragon functions the same way, but you're going to have to pull a little harder to lift the latch that locks the buckle in place.

If you are thinking of using this on your tour, my advice is to get it soon, as you will need to familiarize yourself with it. Brand new, the buckles are stiff as hell, and you will need to give it a couple of pulls to break it in.

It's a nice rig though, man.

Haven't heard yet if I'm to go on the close out or not, but I'm also going to be getting one in MC for airsoft purposes.

I have a CP Gear 2/3 Mag pouch on the centre loops on the tac vest without the centre adaptor, the pouch flops a little bit, but not to bad. The MPAK looks like a decent alternative, but somewhat bulky and it looks like you would loose the 4 mag pouches.

IMO having the bayonet on the front is a poor place for it. I have mine horizantal attached to the back of the left C9/Utility pouch.

IMO the WIMP is alright, but when you wear armour under the tac vest getting a mag out of the WIMP becomes more awkward then it is without the armour.

could you elaborate a bit more on the issues you had with the WIMP when wearing the frag vest mike? was it the added bulk? was it just harder for your hand to reach the mags or was it something else?

thanks

I agree with Skeletor on the WIMP.. it is hard enough to reach for it while wearing the vest on it's own.. add the body armor, and not only will you find your canteen/C9 pouch getting in the way of your elbows... it becomes a mission to try and extract ammo from it.

Any general comments on CP Gear nylon products?
Thinking of getting their new M-2010 MFR-8 split front rig (don't fit the TT 2-piece).

Having it on the side prevents the damn thing from stabbing you in the face if it pops up, learning from personal experience...

I've been considering getting the WIMP pouches, at least one anyways. How badly does the extra space they take up, make your C9/Canteen pouches stick out?

I guess if you're running them with the frag vest, even if they're a pain to get you they might be good to just carry extra ammo with you, that you could switch out for empty magazines when you have a spare minute.

This is just theory for me though as I've never had the chance to run with anything but the standard tac and frag, please correct me if I'm just way out there. :D

Labo July 14th, 2010 00:14

Sticks out just over an inch. I find wearing the TV a little lower does make a difference.
