Mmm not me. They aren't really being used anymore by servicemen/women present day simply because they don't really make them anymore, so I'm going with standard M4/AR mags/, but maybe that's just me.

Update since my last post.

I've changed out the front and rear to the narrow hand and car-15 rear. Added a buttpad, cadex front grip with cadex mount, eotech 552 and painted the furniture. I dont care about the ambidextrous parts. Still need a L11A1 front barrel and a TRIAD and to send out lower for blasting/powder and proper engravings then Ill be happy enough.

Beautiful. May I ask what you painted it with exactly? The right coat of paint and the trades are all I need for mine now as I have everything else.

Originally I had done the old furniture in AERVOE Military Vehicle and Recreation Camo Paint in Light Green as it matched the closest to the Canadian Green. However when I bought the Green Cadex forward folding grip it was a completely different color. I being a bit anal about it matched it to the AERVOE Dark Green. That is the current colour pictured. I opted to try the KRYLON Camouflage flat black as the base coat as it is apparently designed to adhere to plastic without sanding etc. Last time I uses a forest green KRYLON Fusion for plastic so and overall the paint held up well. Jury is still out on this try. This time I did the following.
2- Light coats of the Krylon FLat Black Camo (for paint adherence)
2-3 Light coats of the Dark Green AERVOE
2 Light coats of Krylon Satin finish clear coat (add toughness)
1 light coat of Krylon Flat Finish clear coat.

Keep the coats very light to prevent running and to prevent heavy buildup. The KRYLON
flat clear coat is only really used for artwork, paintings etc and isn't as durable as the satin. Its just uses to dull the satin a bit more. It can be bought at any arts/crafts store. I bought it @ Michaels (grab the flyer coupon for 40% off) as its $12-$13. It recommends 7 days to fully cure but I've gamed after 12hrs. Its not bullet proof and scuffs/scratches happen but I think it gives character lol. I like the OD actual parts but spray paint is cheaper + you have extra paint for your helmet projects/tool boxes etc. and you can do touch up whenever you want.

Thanks, I'll have to check out Michael's when I get a chance. Totally agree with you on the beat up look. The buffer tube for my CAR-15 stock is sexy-scuffed from my dad's tours that it was used in. Made it worse today in a game today as well lol, among other areas of the gun. Makes it look used.

This is where it started:
Black basically stock (underbarrel rail and Armytek Predator)
Then the light Green with stock furniture.
Current is above a few posts

HAHAHA I'm using a WE Tech M4 AEG as my base as well.

The dark green AERVOE looks pretty good. I wouldn't worry about CADEX foregrips not matching your rifle's furniture colour - they don't accurately match the CF's weapons either.

I've been in contact with Dave at Imperial Engravers about having my WE receiver engraved on their CNC machine. He assures me the Colt trades that were cast in can be easily covered over. He plans to simply sandblast them out, powder coat over the resulting flat surface, then engrave in the new C7 markings. He says there will still be enough material thickness to maintain adequate strength, and after taking a critical look, I believe he's right. I wish I could find a blank receiver, but my searches have turned up empty.

BTW, Dave says his CNC operator is away until sometime in September, so I'll wait a week or two before I send my receiver in.

This is starting to look like more of a winter project anyway, as I want to install a steel bolt, aluminum nozzle, and an RA-Tech trigger group. Maybe I'll order a new upper receiver and have it powder coated to match the lower...

What if the CADEX fore grip is off a C7? Like Spaulding's is.

As for match in colour? Every picture I've seen the CADEX grip is different than the CF green. It's likely just CADEX's own colour. In the end I just wanted it to match and hence the darker (AERVOE Dark green). In comparison to my buddys OD green front and rear the AERVOE Dark Green is still lighter than the OD. Really its all about what works for you. To me I wanted a M4 that looked Canadian and didnt want the be another guy on the field with a black M4.

I'm thinking the winter project will be to send out the lower as well for engraving and I will likely send out the upper as well so the powder coat matches. I might replace the front/rear/grip as well in the plastic OD so I can retire the rattle cans but we'll see.

Hey, fellow C7 builders... I just noticed eHobby Asia is stocking King Arms M16A2 handguards. The specs sound really good, made of Nylon fiber, and you can see the profile is correct for a C7.

Check it out: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/catalog/p...ndguard-black/

Also eHobby has re-listed the proper butt pad for the CF style four position stock: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/guarder-r...ble-stock.html
