I make every attempt to not shoot someone in the face. But sometimes when you're in a heated firefight with someone, you will hit them in the face. That's just the way it is. It sucks, and it's not intentional, but if you're going to play the game without facial protection (as most of of choose to do), then you do so at your own risk and can't complain when you do get a face hit, or more seriously, a broken tooth.

I'm curious since this topic is up for discussion, does anyone use any specific mouth protection? I'm not keen on wearing a full mask, but I'd also rather not chip a tooth. I remember Tokyo Seven suggesting something along the lines of a low profile mouth guard in another thread, but where would you acquire one? Dentist, I assume?

These Fidragon masks are great, they stay tight to your face and allow you to aim down your sights with ease. Unlike the paintball masks I have used. It has a metal mesh eye protection which is really great! Totally puts down fogging of lens, of cource it doesn't even have a lens. It also has great ventalation, not making you sweat as quick.

What are the rules on fields for those full face masks. Hrm, forget the name of them - I've seen someone selling one that looks like the warriors from 300.

Are they on the same level as paint ball masks/full face masks and would they be approved for use during CQB matches?

That mask actually looks kind of cool, and I hate paintball masks. Almost looks like something you see HAZMAT soldiers wearing in movies. Pretty neat.

I absolutely hate mesh masks/goggles, they drive me crazy. Yeah they don't fog but neither do a good pair of ESS goggles. Looking through the mesh gives me a headache and there's the shatter/shrapnel problem as well. I'll stick to my ESS goggles thanks.

As to mouthguards, I assume the rigs used for boxing or football would work fine. The only problem with those is you can't talk.

I shot someones tooth out last week. I felt like shit after doing it to. But we all know the inherent risks of the sport. In the end it's our own responsibility to ensure we are wearing the level of face protection that we are comfortable with. As a field host I demand proper eye protection but face and mouth guards are the players choice.

Got full auto blast in the kisser last weekend from about 15 feet away. 5 in the cheek, 2 in the forehead and 1 in the chin ( half of them broke the skin). Not cool. But it is a risk we take. I normally wear a neoprene face mask below the goggles but it was just too damn hot that day. My worry is losing a tooth, seen it happen. Keep your mouth shut when under fire or cover your mouth with at least a bandana.

I aquired mine from my dentist. It costed about $50, its incredibly thin, flexible, very sturdy and only makes speaking somewhat difficult. Until you get used to it then youre fine.

I find that JT Spectra Thermal paintball goggles are best for no fogging. Abit bulkier (i wear glasses so its perfect) the lens is 2 ply which resists fogging, 260 degrees of vision, large upper vent allows room to mount small computer fan (keeps glasses from fogging) the plastic ear pieces and lower faceguard unsnaps from googles, or snaps back on quick no tools , for CQB. JT says the lens will withstand a shotgun blast from 10ft.
