I have to agree with you Swatt, in alberta I think multicam is idiot proof, just like you our team wears it and you go to a knee and the team is gone.

Brian this is the first time I have read your thread.....but not the first time I have heard the term multimoron...... my wife punctured my "i got mc ballon" with;
Erica "you have a bundle of camo why do you need this stuff"
me "well it's super awesome, all the video game characters are wearing it and it's multicam"
Erica "how much"
me " a few hundred" (i have learnt to never give my wife the exact amount rounding up or down depending on her mood is a better option"
Erica " a few hundred? you are a multimoron"

are the smocks water proof? I was hoping to buy a DZ MC one and double it as my new snowboarding jacket

Nope, when you get them new (the DZ one anyway) they are somewhat water repellent, but that's about it. After time and use it fades anyway. The best thing is something like a Stealth Suit jacket underneath.

I do something similar with my S95 Goretex jacket underneath my ripstop jacket. Works wonders, keeps you dry and warm, AND leaves you access to all the pockets.

This is exactly why I started carrying the Multicam. I don't use it myself ( no explaination, except I'm dutch.....wooden shoes, wooden head ) but at Zombie 2 I lit up a patch of ground I'd heard noise at. Nothing except a solitary weed vigorously wagging back and forth. "!!!?" There was a dude just beside the weed face down hands tucked... if not for the movingh weed I would not habve seen a thing. I centered the 4D Mag lite on him and four of my protecting FEDS could not see him..... centered in a Flashlight beam 20 feet from them. I moved the beam for a second and when the beam returned the fkr was gone "poof". Kudo's dude.
Multicam for sale.

so does anyone know of waterproof MC coat?
why wouldn't there be a waterproof coat, I would think if I was a soldier I would like to keep dry right?

I agree with Lerch. When someone more formal adopts it as a standard uniform, you'll see plenty of MC items that aren't currently available flood the market.
I like multicam, and one day I'm sure I'll wind up buying a rig's worth, but the one thing about it that bothers me is how it lights up like a Christmas tree through NV or IR gear. Even fresh off the rack NIR coated stuff shines like John Travolta's leisure suit from Saturday Night Fever. The stuff works great in tall grass, dead vegetation, autumn forest etc.

humor me tho, but i dont see what is the point of a smock? its just a jacket for colder weather, no?

Yes, I agree that it is most likely a location thing, but there have been times multicam has either stood out a lot or blended in to the point of "holy shit!".

I recall one game moving towards an objective slowly through the brush with a couple of those fucking Warmongers and a handful of the Dogs of War dudes (ok, Bruce of Bad Karma was there too), Quantis was ahead of me by about 30ft, we're looking for guys defending (basically being little pain in the ass snipers), and I scanned ahead of me about 150ft away from 11 O'clock to 2 O'clock, then went back the other way and saw movement 30ft ahead of me. My previous pass Quantis was standing still and my eyes didn't notice him, but when I saw him he had started to move to the right a bit. Freaked. Me. Out!

Here are some intersting pics of multicam in use, where it seems to work well. These are from a couple games last year at the Foxden (first some fall pics, then some summer pics).

Here's that poof ( :D ) Haggis:
http://www.ottawavalleyairsoft.ca/mo...n/PICT5767.jpg

I think this is Sgt. Garcia:
http://www.ottawavalleyairsoft.ca/mo...n/PICT5769.jpg

Hazard in cadpat and myself in MC:
http://www.ottawavalleyairsoft.ca/mo...4/PICT0054.jpg

I love annoying people with this one, me in MC:
http://www.ottawavalleyairsoft.ca/mo...4/PICT0059.jpg

And with this one:
http://www.ottawavalleyairsoft.ca/mo...4/PICT0061.jpg

And the answer to the riddle:
http://www.ottawavalleyairsoft.ca/mo...4/PICT0060.jpg

So ya, for the area here, MC can either make a guy disappear (until he moves at times), or stand out as much as tan clothing from the GAP. But the really good players learn their fieldcraft and look for the best place to move to when 'stalking' through the woods.

Oh ya, purpose of a smock is for colder weather, wear a raincoat under it when playing in the rain, and it gives you a shitload more places to carry stuff if your normal loadout is lacking. At one point for a game (actually a couple of the pics above) I just ran with my MP5 and used my smock to carry my extra mags, and used the pockets as dump pouches. Worked ok, but damn was I quiet.

And for Jayhad, check out the $95 MC smock huang is selling, it is said to be waterproof. And is a VERY close copy of the DZ Recce Smock.

Lol, how many pairs of shoes does your wife have?

Shit, DZ just came out with their stubby multicam boonie hat, and I just about shat myself!! $49.99 too!!!! I only have an HSGI ballcap in MC, have been wanting a good MC boonie for almost two years now, and since my Bday is coming up end of the month, I suggested to the wifey via Messenger "Hmm, here's a Bday suggestion for you to get me." and she replied "YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE!!!! WHY WOULD YOU WANT ME TO SPEND MONEY I DON"T HAVE TO BUY YOU SOMETHING YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE OF!?!?! YOU DIDN'T EVEN SPEND $50 ON ME FOR MY LAST BIRTHDAY!!!"

So, for clarification:

1/ My only other boonie is a cadpat one;

2/ She has piles of credit on her credit cards (one that we use for car repairs, which I make the damned payments every month!??!)

3/ I had to remind her that I bought her a $180 Kodak digital camera for her birthday this past June. Guess what, even though I owned her ass with that last one, she didn't even bother to call her hit!!!!!

And here all this time I thought you hated the stuff like I hate ACU (lol, seems Hazard and Lutnit do as well, since at the last game they were tugging at your BDUs and gear looking for the classified section, the sports section, the comics, etc.). Reason it lights up in the IR range is because of the treatment the CRYE cloth gets for IFF usage.

oh weak, nothing worse than a wasc member not calling their hits, the worst part is you cant get em in the sore spot either lol.

ya most mc is really bad with nv, if any of you remember ks2.5 sog had mc and it was irr treated, they looked like ghosts in the night lol. it was pretty bad. but acu isnt any better lol. but my crye combats dont light up, so i dunno what to say there.

as for a nice mc boonie, my mate NachoPudding got me one from janes surplus in lethbridge, its the best boonie ive found, its identical to my woodland mil-spec, i definatly reccommend it!

WASC?

Dunno about the boonie you have, but check this sucker out!

http://www.dropzonetactical.com/hats/stubby.html

I am SO buying myself one!!!! I prefer to wear my Bolle strap on my head, under the hat. Ball caps don't do it for me when playing (but are great for everyday use to cover my thinning hair spots), and when moving through thick brush it can get dangerous (as in, ball cap visor has no give on branches, flips upwards, dropping the goggle strap down). Add in the fact that the ballcap ends up fitting funny and gets uncomfortable with a goggle strap on it............ I'd prefer to play with either a boonie or just an MC bandana on my head.

My cadpat boonie is size 7 3/4 (blame E-bay for issued stuff), but my head is size 7 1/2, and I actually very much prefer the larger size for the goggle strap as well as ventilation. I just use the neck cord to snug the boonie to the back of my head.
