Poor quality gears and a horrible shim job maybe.. Which gear was it?
i guess my pics arent working :( well its the spur gear that has the broken tooth

I suggest using the money you should have been saving up to get a better gun when your kraken failed.

ALSO, if one gear tooth broke, it could have got wedged between other gears stopping you aeg from working. Clean her out. re grease her and put it all back together.
really? i dont think i should get a new gun b\c of one gear.If i did get a new gun, what would u suggest?

ok thnx ill try n putting the gearbox all back together n see if she runs, thanks

Ah, the classic "WTF?!? I tried a 9.6V battery and my gun got messed up inside!"

Yes, 9.6V batteries greatly increase the rate of wear, often it's the tappet plate or piston that suffers, but in your case a gear or two. Could also be that a tooth on a gear sheared off (I've seen it about a dozen times last year, even top of the line gears) and shredded the gear box with metal teeth. Not battery related really, just metal fatigue.

...I think i can tell you why it broke. Are those crappy .12's?

Rinaldi_M4 April 16th, 2009 19:35

thanks a bunch KNIVEZS for postin the pics:D

yes those are the crappy ass .12's cuz i cant find .20's anywhere without ordering them from an online store. But i dont think it would break cuz of a .12 just my thought i actually dont know, well besides that.... as shown in the pics the spur gear was ripped of one of its teeth, so im guessing this is the problem. is there something else besides the 1 gear and my battery causing the problem??? if i need to, where and what kind of gears should i buy to replace these so my gun can live again and actually survive.OR if i really need to like someone suggested, which new gun should i save up for??

thanks

you don't have to order them online. you live in Toronto. There are plenty of BB Bastard associates in the GTA as well as Karnage who sells Velocity Arms

lemegacool April 16th, 2009 19:44

put the gearbox back together and reshim carefully the gears! it should work i had one of my aks running with the same chipped tooth on the spur for like 1000 rounds ... was waiting for a replacement one to arrive:rolleyes:

here ya go i found you a great shimming guide! http://www.858airsoft.com/upgrades/shim.html i know it's boring and time consuming but it's a VITAL thing to do to your aeg! hell i properly reshimmed 2 cyma mechboxes and runned them on a 11.1v lipo without a problem!

CDN_Stalker April 17th, 2009 10:58

Looks like a typical metal fatigue issue of a geat tooth. Nothing else would cause the spur gear to break teeth like that.

He doesn't need all of those. The only thing he needs is a new gearset.

ya lol thats what i said before:P im askin if the one i picked out is good or not and if not which would you get??

ok some of the parts that were suggested, i dont think i really need most the extra parts such as the reinforced gearbox but thanks anyway.

i wasw looking more into better bushings\bearings along with high speed gears, and a metal body with some some grips\stocks, wat u guys think?? n where should and what should i buy??? all help is appreciated!!

thanks

Styrak May 1st, 2009 21:29

Don't get bearings, get solid metal bushings if you're getting some.
