the gun was meant to be a low cost version of the M16 for developing countries, it never took off cause it was still cheaper to just buy M16s than build an AR18 factory.

the IRA called it the "widowmaker"

ive actually seen and handled a real one - ar 180b. its used mostly for sport/ competition shooting from what i understand. and the recievers are fiber baSED rather than steel.

I was just reading up on the AR-180 when I came across this thread on the web lol. Really like that classic look to it. Would love to get my hands on one of these, looks like a combination of a FN FAL and a Thompson M1A1.
