That being said, @OP: dunno what gun you plan on dropping that onto, but since it's made for real steel you're to need a "real style" barrel nut/delta ring:

http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/v/vsp...t%20AR15-1.jpg

G&P and KA make some, they're like $25-30.

The handguard cap (at the front) may or may not need replacing.

actually in questar's faq its states the pal restriction.

(copied from their site)

Step #2...
Send us your personal information as requested in our On-Line Order Form. Whether you are purchasing a complete firearm or firearm related parts and accessories, our company policy is to identify all customers. We only do business with licensed firearms owners... so a scanned (or faxed) copy of your PAL will be required for our files to insure that this is the case. All personal information supplied is maintained in the strictest of confidence and only used to process your order requests. We NEVER use your personal information for "marketing" purposes.

so it's looking like the real steel way is not the way to go. oh well,,fun while it lasted. mods can i have this thread removed please. thx,,

Yeah I know about Questar. But that's just Questar. Questar can do whatever they want. They can say "we only deal with people who send us a naked picture of their wife/girlfriend." It has nothing to do with the law.

The original link you posted wasn't from Questar.

So given all that, Questar can lick my salty nuts. The CDN is still worth more than the USD, and I have no problem sending it down South of the border if people up here don't want my business.

Ronan January 3rd, 2008 02:15

Drake before turning the torch on, at least READ.

I already talked to the US border and accessories like front hand guards are a no no unless they are manufactured with no trades or 'fake' trades.

DD, LaRue, Knights etc will not make it through. I know because i asked them + asked the retailers. All gave me the same answer. Iv been stuck trying to get a RS front handguard for over a month.

So next time, think before posting mate.

Even my fucking Troy FLASHHIDER got seized...

Guys, the only stuff you really need to worry about being export restricted are the items used by any branch/group of the U.S. military. In a time of war (which is now for them), they will control the flow of technology to keep their battlefield "edge". So, items like night vision, weapon sights, thermal imagers (for weapons), guns, and issued accesories will be export resticted.

A $99 UTG rail won't be one of them. But on the plus side, Questar is ITAR-equipped in their U.S. operations, so they can get you most things that would otherwise be impossible for any other retailer to get.

I have that UTG rail currently mounted on a real AR. It's a kick-ass rail for the money, that's for sure.

mc we need a PAL to buy it from Questar. I have ZERO problem buying from them but i don't have a PAL. Businesses in the US prefer NOT to bother with us, a lot of them decline my business when i asked them to ship to Canada.

So right now, i'm down to trying to find a RS or G&P 7 inch RIS or RAS handguard for my M4 thats located IN Canada. So far no luck...

Edit: My 'last' chance are those guys http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/U...il_covers.html

I yet received a 'yes/no we will ship to Canada'.

Perhaps I don't realize how hard it is to buy parts from some people without having a PAL. I got my FAC over 18 years ago, so not having a license is something I don't easily remember. Perhaps I'm spoiled because I can just order whatever I can find?

But look around for used deals on CGN. I saw some ARMS, Daniel Defense, UTG and other stuff for sale on there recently. But some stuff is in high demand, and quick cash talks. But stuff is always available if you know where to look.

Whats CGN? The cash is more than ready, i want my front handguard :D

And getting my PAL is on my 'to-do' list for this summer.

Edit: CGN = http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/ ?

*sigh*

no YOU need to read, dude. For one, I said it's not a problem for items that aren't export restricted. The US state dept issues export licenses (or refuses to) for any guns or parts/components. Many parts are export restricted, and are usually indicated as such (not the case with the handguard OP posted AND the seller said he'd ship to Canada).

Start by reading these:

http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/factsheets/imports_e.asp

http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/eicb/military/faq-en.asp (notably Q4 is the one you want to pay attention to)

As for your flash hider, you'll notice the "NO EXPORT" on the second line

http://www.skdtac.com/index.asp?Page...ROD&ProdID=690

You really need to start doing your homework.

Ronan January 3rd, 2008 04:05

Your links fail to touch the topic of this thread. Which is real steel accessories (firearms) bought in the US and shipped to Canada. Doesn't matter what Canadian Law states if the other side say's no. Not sure how clearer it can be said. I did my homework, i phoned and e-mailed the concern parties and i was told no. BUT i was told that no trades or 'fake' trades accessories are ok. (aka airsoft stuff like G&P front handguard as long the item is listed as a toy and not a RS accessory if real trades are on it).

Concerning the Flashhider:
No export? Didn't buy it from that site so i didn't get a 'no export' warning. All i got was a 'item will be shipped soon' and well you know the rest.

If you're worried about the rails not crossing the border or aren't up to the idea of them being seized, get them shipped to Ship Happens in Sumas and walk them across personally. All you need is a receipt of payment and your own ID (passport).
At the most you'll just have to pay the small importing fee, but that should be waived since it'd be an American product...personally, I've brought optics, rail kits, stocks, and magazines across, AND I'm usually wearing a DPM smock :D

Ship Happens is great I have used them twice now. hell with the way some ebay sellers rape you for shipping here, it's still cheaper to use them then to ship to my house. I should start using them more.
