The back plate that is attached to the stock is made of metal, and I have no way of drilling a hole into it, thus, I can't put it through the stock. :(

That would work. I'll hit up my local RC joint and get some connectors.
Assuming that you're talking about the spring in a hi-cap, on the M4 mag, when you remove the internals, there are 2 screws to unscrew on the side, and some retaining ring on the winding wheel that can be (carefully) pulled off. take out the screws and retaining ring, and pull the two halves apart slowly. there's another wheel in there with knobs on it. Pull that out, and on the other side, there's the spring. I didn't actually take it out, myself, but I don't think it'd be a good idea to take it out. When I cleaned the hi cap, all I did was run all of the other parts under water with soap, and then put it back together after hand drying it. |
