Personally you might consider not being overtly tactical in public. All these protests, pepper spraying campus police. A bag of evil may bring you unwanted attention should things go south. Grey man ftw.

In such case, north face, mec and deuter are great. I've also used a Swiss army or Swiss gear whatever laptop backpack for years and it is holding up well. All my heavier duty mec packs are also amazing.

Yeah, he sent me a PM. If I could find a TAD fast pack EDC for around 200 I'd be all over it. It wont happen...

As for tac gear in public, just like anything, dont be a retard and you should be good.

Molle radio/ waterbottle pouch is okay,
Empty glock holster= nogo.

In case others are looking for other good packs, I've been using a 5.11 Rush 24 for school and it rocks. molle all around, tons of pockets, super comfy. 1050D Cordura coated with some water repellent so it's definitely durable.
