Do a section on camoflage in the snow

I dont know how many of you out there smoke but this is something i learned during my crash course sniper schooling, smokers at night are easy targets UNLESS you know how to hide it. When you pull on your smoke, the embers flare up intensely in the dark. Easy target for a sniper as he now knows where your head is located.

How to smoke invisibly.

Take the hand holding the cigarette placing the smoke between your thumb and index finger and the remaining fingers together in a 'pen-holding' fashion.

Place your thumb to your bottom lip holding your hand parallel to your face, looking down if equips allow. Pull and immediately bring your hand down to hide the embers as best as possible while inhaling. Do NOT flick your ashes, let them fall as the please.

Exhaling. Do it quickly and again if possible, looking down.

Congrats, you can now smoke at night and not be a snipers wet dream of getting a pitch black kill.

Thats like the old "Three on a match" rule. The enemy would see the first guy lighting his smoke, he would get his gun up and aim on the second one and the third guy would get shot!

Okay well one thing in my time of playing airsoft sniping is that you see people turkey necking people cant see their target at all and then they take and push their head up above the grass or weeds one thing that I use is small periscope that fits over one eye painted tiger striped with dark rubber bands for vegetation, you have to think mainly about egress routs, one of the main thing is you don't need a incredible amount for a ghillie suit i have made over 25 ghillies and so far my best one is also the thinnest so basically all you need to do is break up your outline as other people have said.

I strongly suggest mentioning to take advantage of distractions and diversions. Most people develop a wonderful thing called "tunnel vision" when they're looking down their sights at someone.

You did mention shadows, but I would recommend detailing the use of them in camouflaging through contrast. At night, some shadows cast by bright light sources (like a backyard floodlight) are so intense that they're almost as dark as ink. I've been less than 5 feet away from an individual and they were looking directly at me and couldn't see me.

During the day you might notice that the presence of bright areas make distinguishing objects in darker areas considerably more difficult. I've hidden under a tree in broad daylight using an olive drab combat scarf, a few leaves and my cadpats and wasn't spotted until I moved.

Another thing to watch about Shadow: When you're ten meters away from someone and they are hiding well, but you can see a human-shaped shadow protruding from whatever cover they're hiding behind. A great way to ruin an otherwise perfect stealth kill...

This is important in urban comat as well. i've killed people that would have had the drop on me because they were not aware of thier shadow. be sure, whenever possible to keep your shodow hidden.

Since you seem interested in WW2 tactics... Here you go. (I believe I posted this on ASC before, but whatever.)

The camouflage umbrella looks like it would only work if your enemy is only looking at you from one angle. In other words, fail.

I think said umbrella is spose to work like that, it is small light easy to use for advancing descreetly TOWARDS the enemy id use one for sure as appose to say just crawling across the open field. seem prety win to me, just sayin

When I don my UPA getup, I tend to stay in underbrush or dark areas. My shirt is black, and my hat is green, so this allows me to poke my head out every now and then. Also, I wear the East German raindrop pants, so the legs allow for some exposure as well.

It's always important to be aware of what you are wearing and where you are.
